About MARS: The Last Exodus

MARS: The Last Exodus - about the game

You are the Captain of Humanity’s last hope: Expedition Exodus.
Your mission is to land on the explored part of the Red Planet and gather the resources needed to build our colony:

  • Iron, gold, diamond ores

  • Titanium and Uranium Ores (coming in a future version)

  • A location suitable for our Domes

Once you’ve secured these, you’ll be able to construct the main structures essential for our survival, from a market to communicate with Earth, to a hangar for building our Mechs, and ore extractors to sustain our growth.

For your mission, Headquarters will lend you one of our last Mechs models. However, it won’t be enough to secure our position on Mars. If all past expeditions failed, it means the danger is greater than we expected… all because of those stupid Marsects.

Build additional Mechs for your crew to pilot and use them to explore Mars and defend the colony. You can select all of them or only a portion, and dispatch them wherever you want, giving you a strategic advantage during battles. We’ve got a variety of Mechs at your disposal:

  • Gatling Mech – Huge gun, huge wave clear. Our main combat unit.

  • Medic Mech  – Keeps your Mechs operational on the battlefield. Take good care of them.

  • Flamethrower Mech - Torches close distance Marsects, burning them to a crisp.

  • Missile Mech – Automatically launches a deadly missile. Longer cooldowns, larger explosions.

  • Construction Mech (coming in a future version) - crafts walls and turrets, fortifying your Dome colony.

  • Laser Mech(coming in a future version) – The best Mechs for piercing exoskeletons and taking down massive Marsects, though not very effective for wave clearing.

  • Nuclear Missile Mech (coming in a future version) – Select the area to launch a deadly missile. Longer cooldowns, larger explosions.

Your pilot will be able to customize the weaponry of the Mechs from its arms to its emblem, all ready to march forward under your command.

Our biggest obstacle will be the Marsects. More than their individual strength, it’s their sheer number and diversity that make them so dangerous. They stay holed up in their nests most of the time and only come out when visibility is at its worst… We have to strike them before they strike us. Take our Mechs and get close enough to their nests to blow them up from the inside.

Here are the few reports we managed to recover about the Marsect species encountered by previous expeditions:

  • Common – Not very powerful, but extremely numerous.

  • Swiftlings - fast and numerous in number as they crawl off the nests in ghastly hordes.

  • Rolhogs (coming in a future version) – Curl into spiked, armored balls and barrel through anything in their way.

  • Diamond Marsects (coming in a future version) – Hide among mineral deposits; the nightmare of our mining teams. Extremely dangerous.

  • Centifangs (coming in a future version) – Gigantic worms; you never know when or where they’ll strike.

We know there are other species out there still unknown to us… We’ll have to discover them ourselves.

Mars is smaller than Earth, but it’s still a planet, we can’t possibly survive with only one colony. We’ll have to build a network and connect each settlement through trade routes and fast travel systems. It will probably take some time before we reach that point.

We’ll also need to take the planet’s geography into account. Some regions can be extremely dangerous yet strategically vital (coming in a future version):

  • Olympus Mons

  • Valles Marineris

…and more.

Be very careful where you choose to establish new colonies.

Sure, we came here with a bunch of scientists, but they don’t know everything. We’ll have to research upgrades carefully if we want to survive, whether it’s Mechs, structures, or transportation. Everything gets outdated fast when you’re facing those monsters.

The good thing is, these upgrades will give us several different paths to progress in our mission:

  • Build a grand army and conquer Mars

  • Work on terraforming the planet (coming in a future version)

  • Create underground colonies (coming in a future version)

Even though we collected some data from past expeditions before contact was cut off, we still lack a lot of information about what’s happening here. It would be best to search for those expeditions and review their logs. That could make the difference between life and death!

And who knows, we might be able to uncover some Martian secrets.
