About Call Me, Liar

Call Me, Liar - about the game

Call Me, Liar is an indie social deduction party game for four to eight players on PC. Contestants join online sessions where each person occupies a separate virtual room equipped with a phone, a room directory, and a television. Private calls allow secret negotiations and deceptions, while the public television broadcast reveals outcomes after each round.

Gameplay

Players connect through built-in voice chat and participate in a full show that consists of eight games selected from a pool of ten. A voiced host explains the rules on screen before each game begins, giving everyone time to discuss strategy in open voice channels. During active play, participants make one-on-one phone calls to gather information or form alliances. Decisions made over these calls determine point gains or losses. Scores accumulate across the entire show, and the player with the highest total at the end wins.

The core loop emphasizes deduction and bluffing. Contestants must decide whom to trust based on limited information exchanged in private conversations. A microphone is required, and headphones are recommended for clear audio separation between private calls and group discussion.

Game Modes

Ten distinct games form the show's rotation, with eight selected for each session. Rapid Pacts requires paired players to negotiate a deal and then secretly choose to share or take resources. Bomb Game places a defusal wire on another player's card, testing whether the information shared is truthful. Who's on the Line disguises voices so participants must match disguised callers to the correct rooms using their directory. Spot the Clown hides one secret role among the group, with calls used to identify the impostor amid potential lies.

The remaining games include The Banishment, Convince & Hit, Last Laugh, Rabbit Race, Fine Print, and Dead Line. Each introduces unique mechanics centered on information exchange, alliances, and deception within the same phone-and-television framework.

Multiplayer and Accessibility

Sessions support four to eight participants in cross-platform play between Windows and Mac systems. Friends can join via Steam invites or by sharing a lobby ID. The game features voice narration in ten languages: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. All interaction occurs through the in-game voice system, with no additional external tools required.

Is It Worth Playing?

Call Me, Liar remains in Early Access with a planned full release targeted for late 2026. The current version delivers a complete show experience using the ten games and full voice features described. As a single-developer project, it focuses on iterative improvements based on player feedback, with plans to expand the game pool and refine assets over time. The title suits groups seeking a voice-driven social deduction experience that blends private negotiation with public reveals. Players who enjoy repeated sessions with the same friends will find the most value, given the emphasis on learning tells and refining call strategies across multiple shows.
