That's Football(我称它为足球) is a minimalist top-down 2D MOBA soccer game built for short, arcade-style sessions on PC. It strips away realistic passing physics in favor of direct control over dribbling, dashing, tackling, and teammate swaps. Matches last three minutes, with each side fielding three players where the user directs one in real time while the others maintain fixed positions until swapped.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on possession and quick decisions. When holding the ball it orbits the controlled player, and changing direction lines up shots or passes. Swapping control to a teammate in the current movement direction allows immediate repositioning or defensive resets. Basic actions include Kick, Dash, Swap, and Change Direction, with stamina management playing a constant role during extended runs or repeated dashes.
Before each match players assign five skill points across Move, Dribble, Pass, and Stamina to shape their approach. Avatar and color customization further personalizes the on-pitch presence. During play the pitch periodically spawns Energy pickups that restore stamina along with temporary power-ups such as Super Dash, Power Shot, Slide Tackle, and Aim Assist. Slide Tackle sends the player forward in their movement direction, stunning opponents briefly on contact and stealing the ball when successful.
Four distinct pitches are currently available, each with unique layouts. Some include attraction or repulsion fields and moving walls that alter dribbling paths and shooting angles. Additional pitches are planned in future updates. Keyboard and gamepad controls are supported, and the clear overhead view keeps focus on positioning and timing rather than complex camera management.
Game Modes
Solo or Campaign mode lets players practice controls and learn pitch mechanics without opponents. LAN supports local 1v1 and 2v2 rooms for direct multiplayer on the same network. Online options include public lobbies, quick match, private rooms, and direct IP connections. Online PvP runs on frame synchronization, with goals, own goals, and match wins recorded in player profiles for tracking progress.
These modes emphasize short bursts of play that reward precise timing and team coordination over long-term progression systems. The three-minute limit keeps every session focused on immediate actions like intercepting passes through swaps or capitalizing on pickup spawns.
Key Mechanics and Features
Teamwork forms the foundation of success because no single player controls the entire side. Holding position with uncontrolled teammates creates defensive structures or passing options that must be activated through swaps. Interactive terrain on the four pitches adds layers to positioning, forcing adjustments in dribble routes or shot angles when fields or walls shift. Pickup collection during matches provides tactical choices between stamina recovery and offensive boosts.
The system remains accessible for new players while offering depth through skill allocation and pickup timing. Three-minute rounds encourage aggressive play, where a single mistimed dash or failed tackle can shift momentum quickly.
Is It Worth Playing?
The game remains in a pre-release state with a public playtest available on PC. It targets players who enjoy fast arcade sports titles and MOBA-inspired team mechanics in a simplified soccer format. Keyboard and gamepad support plus straightforward rules make it approachable for casual sessions, while the emphasis on swaps, pickups, and terrain interaction provides room for repeated matches to refine timing and positioning.
With no user reviews available yet, suitability depends on preference for short, high-tempo matches rather than simulation depth. Those seeking quick online or local multiplayer experiences with customizable builds may find the current feature set engaging once the full release arrives. Future pitch additions are noted as planned content.
