About Tai Chi Tarot

Tai Chi Tarot - about the game

Tai Chi Tarot is an indie casual game for PC that centers on a daily tarot ritual drawing from classic Tarot traditions and Chinese philosophical elements. Players engage with a unique system of card selection and layered interpretations to generate personalized readings focused on reflection rather than prediction. The experience emphasizes short, intentional sessions that fit into a routine without demanding extended playtime.

Gameplay

The core loop begins when players enter the Bagua layout and activate the central Taiji symbol. This starts a sequence of three rounds labeled Heaven, Human Affairs, and Foundation. In each round, a hand of five cards rotates, and players select eight cards total across the process, relying on personal intuition for choices rather than strategic calculation.

Readings follow an original three-layer system. A primary palace establishes the overall tone, a secondary palace modifies that tone, and any reversed cards introduce additional nuance. The output forms a concise passage that addresses tone, guidance, energy, and a brief note of encouragement tailored to the current day. Twenty-eight cards make up the deck, combining twenty standard Tarot cards with eight original designs inspired by Chinese myth and philosophy, such as the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. These integrate with the Five Elements and land within the eight Bagua palaces: Qian, Dui, Li, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Gen, and Kun.

Visual presentation uses deep tones, gold accents, drifting ink fog, and a starry compass to frame each session. The audio remains minimal and meditative, featuring solo guqin or xiao instrumentation designed to support quiet contemplation of the results.

Game Modes

Nine distinct paths guide the focus of each reading. These include General, Love, Career, Wealth, Health, Relationships, Study, Decisions, and Travel. Each path supports one official reading per day, with additional draws available as unrecorded, playful options that preserve the ritual's non-repetitive nature.

History tracking allows players to review past readings and note how they aligned with actual events, marking them as spot on, partial, or off. Fifteen achievements monitor patterns in practice, ranging from initial visits to sustained daily engagement over seasons. Any completed reading can convert into a shareable card in portrait format for saving or sending.

Visual and Audio Design

The presentation maintains a consistent ink-wash aesthetic throughout, creating a calm environment suited to thoughtful engagement. Sound design prioritizes restraint, avoiding traditional game scoring in favor of sparse, traditional instrumental elements that encourage lingering with the reading outcome.

Is It Worth Playing?

Tai Chi Tarot suits players interested in a structured yet flexible daily reflection tool rather than competitive or narrative-driven experiences. Its single-player format on PC supports consistent short sessions, with built-in limits on official readings preventing overuse. Features like history browsing, self-assessment of past results, and quiet achievement tracking provide gentle progression for those who value ongoing personal insight. The bilingual availability in Chinese and English broadens accessibility for users seeking this specific blend of Tarot and Bagua-inspired mechanics. Those drawn to meditative casual games will find the ritual approach aligns well with reflective habits, while others preferring action or multiplayer elements may look elsewhere.
