The Kyiv – Vorozhba railway route, with a length of 297 km, passes through the territories of Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions, connecting the capital of Ukraine with an important railway hub in the northeast of the country.
The entire route section is electrified with 25 kV AC and is mostly a double-track line.
The route runs through flat terrain with minor elevation changes. It is mainly used for long-distance and suburban passenger trains, as well as for freight transportation. The route serves long-distance passenger trains (e.g., Kyiv – Sumy, Kyiv – Kharkiv, international destinations) and suburban electric trains.
This route is an important railway artery that connects Kyiv with the northeastern regions of Ukraine.
