Quick reality check before anyone panics: this is not a mod or a REDkit fan project, as brilliant as some of those have been. Songs of the Past is a full, official expansion straight from CDPR, the first for Wild Hunt since Blood and Wine closed things out roughly a decade ago. They are pitching it as a proper, meaty chapter, and right now it is penciled in for a 2027 release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
What we actually know so far
Honestly? Not a whole lot, and that is kind of by design. Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live is where the curtain goes up, so circle August 25. CDPR is also running a hands-off, guided presentation at its booth on the Gamescom floor in Cologne, for the folks lucky enough to be there in person.
Everything beyond that is rumor, so treat it like one. The long running fan theory points at Zerrikania, that desert region the books keep teasing, as the setting, maybe even building a bridge toward The Witcher 4. Fun to chew on. Completely unconfirmed. We find out on stage.
A good excuse to replay it
If you have not touched Wild Hunt in a few years, this is the nudge you needed. The next-gen update still looks gorgeous, and Toussaint remains one of the finest places any RPG has ever handed us to get lost in.
