About TOWERMOUTH

TOWERMOUTH - about the game

TOWERMOUTH is an action indie game built around local couch co-op where two players share one screen, one PC, and one endlessly opinionated tower. The core loop involves climbing procedurally arranged floors filled with hostile rooms, clearing threats, ascending stairs, and enduring the tower's blunt commentary on performance. Weapons operate on automatic rhythms without manual attacks, shifting focus to positioning, body blocking, and timing commitments during fights.

Gameplay

Combat centers on 23 distinct weapons that select targets and swing independently. Examples include the club for close range, katana for precise strikes, crossbow for distance, blunderbuss for spread, ice staff for control, frying pan for blunt force, and even a literal fish. Each weapon carries its own reach and firing cadence, making movement and placement the primary skills.

Repeating a weapon purchase upgrades it instead of adding duplicates. Each tier boosts damage by 40 percent and enlarges the model visibly, so a tier three scythe appears substantially different and more imposing than its starting form. This system encourages repeated selections for stronger versions rather than inventory clutter.

Dozens of items, augments, and curses alter both stats and appearance. Red flask tints skin red, storm ring surrounds the character in light, and rotten heart reduces maximum health by 22 while adding 19 percent damage with visible rot. Trade offs define builds such as glass cannon, berserk, gambler, and golden shackles, allowing observers to read a player's setup directly from visual changes.

Eleven ultimates deliver large scale effects through a single button press. Options range from black hole and meteor rain to ice age, thunder god, apocalypse, and ghost swarm. These provide powerful but infrequent options during intense floors.

Every fifth floor features a warden boss with unique telegraph patterns and high damage output. The preceding four floors serve as breathing room before the test. Procedurally arranged rooms ensure no two climbs repeat exactly.

Game Modes

Four difficulty settings adjust enemy density, speed, and damage. Easy offers a gentler entry. Normal provides standard challenge. Hard increases pressure. Chaos multiplies horde size by 1.75, accelerates everything, raises damage by 1.4, and doubles gold rewards to offset the risk. The tower accepts these terms without reversal.

Local split screen supports two players with independent cameras, builds, and shops on one PC using gamepads. Solo play works identically when no second player joins. No online connectivity, accounts, or netcode exists, keeping the experience strictly local and immediate.

Progression and Visual Feedback

Weapon tiers and body altering items create clear visual progression. Stronger weapons grow larger and more aggressive in design. Curses and augments leave permanent marks on characters, turning builds into readable statements rather than hidden numbers. This feedback loop rewards experimentation while highlighting the consequences of choices like reduced health for damage boosts.

Floors generate anew each run, mixing room layouts and enemy placements. The combination of automatic weapons, visible upgrades, and periodic wardens creates a rhythm of quick clears punctuated by demanding encounters.

Is It Worth Playing?

TOWERMOUTH suits players who enjoy local co op roguelites focused on positioning and build visibility over direct aiming. The split screen design treats both participants equally with full shops and cameras, avoiding passenger roles. Solo mode maintains the same depth for single player sessions. The four difficulties scale challenge predictably, with chaos providing a distinct high risk variant. Those seeking automatic combat systems paired with meaningful visual customization and local multiplayer will find the mechanics align directly with the described systems. The absence of online features keeps the focus on immediate couch sessions.
