About SetList Battle

SetList Battle - about the game

SetList Battle is a single-player strategy game that blends auto-battler mechanics with management and deckbuilding elements in a roguelike structure. Players build teams from hololive members, equip them with song and skill cards, and watch automated performances unfold as battles on a grid-based stage.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on assembling a lineup of nine members from a pool of 53 available hololive talents. Each member receives one song card and five skill cards, with placement on a 3x3 stage grid determining their role during fights. Front and middle rows handle attacks while the back row provides safety at the cost of offensive capability. Battles run automatically once the setup is complete, lasting up to three minutes, and success depends entirely on pre-battle decisions around equipment, positioning, and card synergies.

Progression unfolds across a 365-day calendar divided into twelve months. Players manage daily plans, handle random events, scout additional members, and develop hidden talents that influence performance. Monthly battles serve as checkpoints to evaluate team strength. A full season typically requires 60 to 90 minutes. The card pool totals 648 entries, split between 162 song cards and 486 skill cards, supported by 15 theme effects and 10 elements that shape interactions. Each of the 54 included tracks plays when its assigned member performs, tying audio directly to lineup choices.

Hidden talents on individual members add layers to team composition, while shifting plans and scouting opportunities encourage repeated runs. The system rewards experimentation with card combinations and positioning strategies that trigger chain reactions during the automated shows.

Game Modes

After completing a full year of management and monthly tests, several endgame options become available. Survival mode requires a single lineup to complete ten consecutive battles without defeat. Arena converts an entire year of progress into a scored run for leaderboard comparison. Replay allows exchange of setlist codes so that any saved lineup can fight under controlled conditions. Archive functions as a persistent collection tracker for members, cards, and themes encountered across runs.

These modes extend play beyond the main campaign loop. Thirty achievements track specific accomplishments, such as winning with only one member active or applying all eight status ailments in a single battle.

Card Systems and Team Building

Deckbuilding occurs through careful selection and assignment of song and skill cards to each of the nine slots. Song cards determine both the audio track heard during performance and contribute to overall strategy. Skill cards provide the mechanical effects that interact across the grid. Theme effects and elemental properties create additional layers of synergy or counters. The 3x3 placement mechanic forces trade-offs between safety and damage output, making positioning as critical as card choice.

Scouting and training expand options over time, while events can introduce temporary modifiers or new opportunities. This creates a management layer where resource allocation across the calendar directly impacts battle outcomes.

Is It Worth Playing?

SetList Battle targets players who enjoy single-player strategy experiences that combine deckbuilding, roguelike progression, and automated combat resolution. The integration of hololive member selection with audible song playback during battles adds a distinctive audio-visual layer to team management. With no user reviews available prior to release and the game listed as coming soon, direct feedback on balance or long-term engagement remains unavailable. Those drawn to grid-based positioning puzzles, extensive card synergies, and seasonal management cycles may find the systems rewarding. The endgame modes provide additional structure for repeated attempts at high scores or perfect clears. Availability is limited to PC through standard digital storefronts once launched.
