On a drifting spaceship in space, a frozen Powernaut awakens to investigate a suspicious radio signal from an Imperial outpost on planet Erasure. After a crash destroys the ship and kills the hero, a cloning device revives them to press on, battling across the surface while uncovering the outpost's downfall. Players navigate a vast interconnected map filled with shortcuts and secrets. They unlock special attacks, gain levels, and gather equipment that reshapes combat. Powernaut Decay is a non-linear platformer inspired by classic Mega Man and the Souls games.

On a lonely ship, floating somewhere in space, sleeps a frozen POWERNAUT. The ships sensors detect a faint radio signal coming from an old Imperial outpost, on small planet called Erasure. Galactic law considers unregistered radio signals to be potential criminal activity. A course is set, and the Powernaut is thawed. But, something goes wrong, and the ship crashes to the Planet's surface. The ship is destroyed and the Powernaut is killed, but their cloning device survives. Newly reborn, the Powernaut continues the mission, fighting their way across the planet and slowly discovering the disaster that befell the Outpost...
