About Kungfu Card

Kungfu Card - about the game

  • Award-Winning Gameplay: Winner of Dice Con's Best Chinese Indie Board Game of the Year, with tried-and-true gameplay that promises endless fun.

  • Tactical Depth: Easy to pick up, hard to master—familiar card and board-game mechanics with endless tactical possibilities.

  • Multiple Modes: Face off in tense one-on-one duels, compete online, or challenge yourself in Roguelike arena runs.

  • Oriental Aesthetics: Immerse yourself in the artistry of traditional martial arts fused with modern visuals.

The core rules of Kungfu Card blend the principles of Poker and Mahjong, making it incredibly easy to pick up. The game uses numbered cards from 1 to 9, divided into four suits—Fist, Palm, Kick, and Elbow—for offense and defense. You can probe your opponent with low-value cards to bait out their defense, or build up high-value moves for a relentless assault. While it might seem like a simple game of high and low numbers, it's actually a pure psychological mind game.

Think like a true martial arts master and switch fluidly between three stances:

  • Offensive Stance: If your card values are too low, combine two cards into one devastating strike that is hard to block.

  • Defensive Stance: When facing an overwhelming assault, turn offense into defense by playing two attack cards as a single defense card to adapt to the threat.

  • Feint Stance: If you're stuck with a bad hand, discard any two cards and redraw to search for the perfect opening.

The highest realm of martial arts is using your opponent's strength against them, and Kungfu Card is no different. Always read your opponent's plays. The moment your played card forms a straight (consecutive numbers, like 1-2-3) or a triplet (three of the same number) with the cards on the field, you trigger a "Disrupt". A Disrupt completely negates all damage for the current round and grants you a moment of enlightenment, allowing you to draw a powerful "Technique" card from your deck for a game-changing victory!

  • Diverse Martial Arts: From Emei with its many forms to the unpredictable Drunken Fist, each style has its own philosophy and playstyle.

  • Define Your Style: Victory begins in preparation. Choose Principles and Techniques that synergize to create a strategy uniquely yours—for you are the grandmaster of your style.

Challenge others in Kung Fu Cards, online or locally.

  • 1v1 Ranked Matches: Hone your skills on the ladder and fight your way to the top in intense duels.

  • Skirmish Zone – Multiplayer Free-for-All (coming soon): Battle 4–8 players in chaotic, last-one-standing matches.

Whether climbing the ranks or dueling friends, every fight tests your martial prowess.

Dive into Martial Tournament mode (coming soon) and grow stronger through a roguelike adventure.

But beware! Your opponents are more than mere fighters. They're Mirror Phantoms, echoes of players who have walked this path before and prevailed.

Succeed, and your deck becomes a Guardian, leaving a Mirror Phantom behind for future challengers.
