HIRUN is a 3D horde survival game with roguelite elements set in a neon arena. Players control one of eight distinct classes and must keep moving while collecting upgrades to handle waves of enemies that grow in number and strength. The core loop centers on running through a randomly generated space, gathering XP to level up, selecting upgrades, opening chests, and stacking modifiers that alter weapons and abilities. The game supports single-player runs and online co-op for two to three players.
Gameplay
The central rules require constant movement and strategic upgrades. Enemies spawn continuously in the music-reactive neon arena, pushing players to dodge while firing. XP drops from defeated foes, allowing level-ups that present upgrade choices. Chests provide additional options, and modifiers can combine in unexpected ways to create powerful or chaotic builds. Weapons level up during a run, and players may carry up to three at once. Bosses appear at intervals, and reaching level 50 triggers an encounter with the Overlord. Runs generate Bucks that mostly carry over after death, which players spend on chests mid-run or convert into Bytecoins for permanent unlocks in the shop and skill tree.
Eight classes each start with a unique weapon and playstyle. The kNight uses sword slashes in close combat and emphasizes tankiness. The Ex-terminator fires quick shotgun spreads. The Igniter launches long-range bolts. The Bladerunner throws shurikens and wields a katana with extra dodge capability. The Hitman focuses on critical hits with a revolver. HR acts as a soul-sucking witch that heals based on damage dealt. The DJ projects neon soundwaves through groups of enemies. Electro sends forked lightning arcs. Global leaderboards track performance across all players.
Game Modes
Single-player runs form the primary experience, where each attempt features a fresh build and a push toward higher levels and the Overlord fight. Online co-op lets players host a lobby, select characters, and tackle the same seeded arena together. Downed teammates can be revived, though enemy numbers and difficulty increase to match the group size. Leaderboards provide a competitive layer by comparing survival progress and scores with the wider player base.
Progression and Meta
Each run contributes to long-term advancement through Bucks earned and converted into Bytecoins. These resources fund the shop and skill tree for permanent improvements that carry across runs. The system encourages repeated attempts to refine builds and unlock new options while testing different class combinations. The single procedural map, known as The Arena, serves as the current setting, with plans for additional maps in later updates.
Is It Worth Playing?
HIRUN remains in Early Access with a planned full release in Q3 2026. The current version includes eight classes, one map, leveling, bosses, the Overlord encounter, modifiers, a meta shop and skill tree, and two-to-three-player co-op. No user reviews exist yet because the game has not launched. It suits players who enjoy fast-paced horde survival loops, build experimentation, and roguelite progression in an action-indie-casual package. Those sensitive to flashing lights, rapid effects, strobing neon, screen shake, or high-contrast patterns should review the health warnings before playing. The game targets fans of constant movement and upgrade stacking who want to compete on leaderboards or team up in co-op.
