During the wave, resources gained from destroyed asteroids are used to upgrade the ship’s systems, improving your ability to survive the wave.
Gained experience can be invested into permanent upgrades using the lab, strengthening future deployments.
You can also send offline expeditions to uncover alien blueprints, which can enhance existing upgrades.
