About Castelune

Castelune - about the game

Castelune is a strategy indie game for PC that combines auto-battler mechanics with simultaneous offense and defense across two boards. Players draft units, merge them for upgrades, equip items, and balance race and class synergies while managing a shared health pool that never regenerates between rounds.

Gameplay

Each round requires building two separate boards that resolve at the same time. One board focuses on defense with towers placed behind a wall, while the other sends an attack squad against an opponent once a timer expires. Damage to walls carries forward unrepaired, creating lasting consequences for defensive choices. Units come from a shop with five rarities, and there are 44 units available to draft in total. Duplicates merge to increase levels, with each level-up offering a choice of three items from a pool of 77. Units have four equipment slots, and defense relies on 22 distinct towers.

Synergies drive strategic decisions through seven races and eight classes. Classes define a unit's role and apply specific debuffs, such as bleeding from warriors, burning from mages, or poisoning from hexers. Races provide team-wide effects like increased attack speed for beasts or summons for undead. Limited slots force players to drop strong units to activate better combinations. The core tension comes from splitting resources between defense and attack, where overcommitting to one side leaves the other vulnerable.

Game Modes

Sieges form the main loop, pitting a player's attack board against a rival's defense while the rival's forces target the player's castle. Treasure duels involve two players sharing a single field without walls, with the last side standing claiming the chest. Boss encounters appear every tenth round and grant attack power-ups that persist for the remainder of the match. Sudden death begins at round 51, strengthening attackers progressively until only one castle remains.

Matches support two to eight players in free-for-all format, with simultaneous building phases so no one waits. Castle health serves as the life total and stays damaged permanently. Solo play pits the player against AI opponents that follow identical rules, including no extra income or information advantages. Four difficulty levels adjust AI decision quality, and five archetypes vary their strategic preferences.

Core Mechanics and Progression

Progression centers on drafting, merging, and equipping within tight constraints. The shop rolls new units each round, encouraging adaptation to available options. Equipment choices and synergy stacking reward experimentation, but the permanent nature of wall damage and health loss punishes poor balance. Simultaneous resolution of both boards demands constant attention to both fronts without pauses between actions.

The game runs on PC and supports multiple languages, including English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. No additional modes or seasonal content appear in current information, as the title remains in a pre-release state.

Is It Worth Playing?

Castelune appeals to players who enjoy deep strategy games with auto-battler elements and high-stakes resource splits. The dual-board system creates constant decision pressure that rewards careful planning over reactive play. Those who prefer solo experiences can test builds against AI opponents that mirror human rulesets across multiple difficulties and playstyles.

With no user reviews available yet and the game listed as coming soon, potential players should monitor updates for release timing. The verified mechanics suggest strong replayability through synergy combinations and matchup variety in multiplayer sessions. It suits fans of indie strategy titles who value precise balance between offense and defense without waiting for turns.
