About Art Fraud

Art Fraud - about the game

Art Fraud is a casual online multiplayer social deduction game for PC in which four to eight players gather around a shared digital canvas in a dimly lit artists' pub. One or more participants act as the Art Fraud, drawing without knowing the secret word that the others see. The experience centers on quick strokes, voice discussion, and pointed accusations rather than artistic skill.

Gameplay

Each round begins with a category card visible to everyone. Artists receive the specific word while the fraud sees only question marks. Players take turns adding exactly one continuous stroke in their personal chalk color, limited to eight seconds with no option to undo. After two such rounds, or more if the table agrees to extend, the group enters a 90-second open discussion period using the built-in voice chat. During talk, anyone can hover over a line to identify its creator and the stroke count for that player.

Discussion gives way to a secret vote revealed simultaneously, with each animal character pointing at a suspect. The unmasking follows, complete with spotlight and drum roll. If the fraud is identified correctly, that player receives a final 25-second chance to guess the word on a chalkboard and potentially steal the round. Losers face the pillory with tomatoes and paint, while winners receive confetti and beer mats.

Being the fraud requires blending strokes into the emerging picture while speaking confidently to deflect suspicion. Artists must draw just enough to convey knowledge of the word without revealing it outright to any impostor at the table. The host sets the number of frauds in advance, always keeping artists in the majority.

Game Modes

Art Fraud offers no separate named modes beyond variations in the core round structure. The host selects one, two, or three frauds before each session, and all participants see the chosen setting. Built-in word categories provide the foundation, though players may supply custom word lists for the table. The game supports lobbies for friends or open public tables, with a minimum of three players workable but five or more recommended for full tension.

Voice chat operates throughout with individual volume and mute controls. A kick vote allows the group to remove disruptive guests when everyone except the accused agrees. No single-player option or AI opponents exist, so every session requires real participants.

Visuals and Features

The presentation uses hi-bit pixel art inside The Blot pub, featuring warm lamplight, deep shadows, and chalk that responds naturally to input. A dynamic camera zooms in during key moments. Eight animal characters populate the table, each with distinct expressions and animations that react to events. The game supports eight languages for word cards, with the host choosing the set.

Technical implementation relies on Steam peer-to-peer connections without dedicated servers or required accounts. A microphone is strongly recommended because conversation drives the deduction. The title is currently in Early Access ahead of its September 30, 2026 release, allowing players to participate in shaping future updates.

Is It Worth Playing?

Art Fraud suits groups that enjoy social deduction combined with light drawing and sustained voice chat. The mechanics reward clever misdirection and observant listening more than drawing talent. Sessions emphasize quick rounds and immediate feedback through voting and unmasking.

Because the game has no single-player component and depends entirely on other people, it appeals most to those who regularly play with friends or enjoy browsing public lobbies. Early Access status means the experience may evolve with community input, including potential additions planned for the full version. Players comfortable with voice-heavy multiplayer titles will find the core loop intact from the start.
