FarmWings is a free to play idle action game that blends casual shmup combat with strategic progression on PC. Players manage a fighter that handles flight, dodging, and shooting automatically while they focus on upgrades, resource allocation, and difficulty choices. The Golden Wasp arrives as an optional addition that brings incendiary bombing to the hangar.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on an always active vertical shooter window that runs in the background or as a compact overlay. The selected fighter advances through stages on its own, collecting gold and facing enemies without direct control. Strategy comes from directing earnings into a Command Tree with over ninety nodes, equipping gear across seven rarity levels, and forging improvements up to plus ten. Offline progress accumulates once unlocked, allowing the ship to earn resources even when the player steps away.
The Golden Wasp functions as an incendiary bomber. Its area bombs explode into shrapnel and create lingering fire zones that damage groups of enemies and stationary targets such as bosses. A dedicated node in its Command Tree expands the fire zone radius with each upgrade. Like the other ships, the Golden Wasp maintains its own progression tree and separate campaign path that integrates with the base game systems.
Adaptive bosses appear in each of the five biomes and adjust their behavior based on the equipped fighter. They may flank laser patterns, steer clear of fire zones, or close in on missile users. After every special attack a brief golden vulnerability window opens for extra damage if the player times upgrades or positioning correctly.
Game Modes
Three difficulty settings structure the experience. Normal mode introduces the biomes and basic threats. Hardcore and Infernal increase enemy density and aggression while preserving all prior progress in the Command Tree, gear inventory, and collected resources. Advancing through modes does not reset earlier unlocks, so players can scale challenge without losing investment.
Stages span fifty levels across Jungle, Ocean, Desert, City, and Arctic biomes. Each biome hosts its own boss that players encounter repeatedly as they push higher difficulties. Daily missions provide additional rewards in the form of Honor Medals, and bosses drop Treasure Clues that support further advancement.
Progression and Systems
The Workshop handles gear management with dismantling, fusion, and forging options. Rare diamonds obtained from high value drops accelerate the final forge tiers. The overall structure rewards consistent play through passive earnings while encouraging targeted investment in ship specific nodes and equipment.
Four fighters total exist in the lineup. Base options include the Blue Falcon with spread bursts and the Black Raven with homing missiles. The Scarlet Phoenix adds laser capabilities as another paid option alongside the Golden Wasp.
Is It Worth Playing?
FarmWings suits players who enjoy idle progression layered over arcade style shooting. The free to play model includes a Steam Community Market for trading rare or better items dropped during online sessions. The Golden Wasp expands options for those interested in area denial and fire based mechanics within the existing campaign and tree systems.
Support continues through ongoing updates from the solo developer, with the game available as a compact window that fits alongside other tasks. Those who prefer direct control or fast paced multiplayer action may find the automated combat less engaging, while fans of strategic resource management in a persistent shmup setting will find depth in the Command Tree and mode progression. The addition of the Golden Wasp provides a distinct playstyle that complements the base roster without requiring a full restart.
