PS Plus Extra and Premium July lineup lands July 15

Sony pulls the curtain off the PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup for July this Wednesday, and for once we already know half the answer.

The reveal is set for July 15 at 8:30 AM PT / 11:30 AM ET, the usual mid-month slot. It covers the Extra game catalog and the Premium classics shelf, and the games themselves are expected to land the following Tuesday, July 21.

The Premium classic is already out of the bag

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is the one heading to Premium. This isn't a leak or an insider whisper. Sony showed it during a State of Play back in June, then left everyone sitting on it for a month. Lately Sony has been sticking to a single classic per month, so that shelf looks settled before the blog post even goes up.

If the name means nothing to you, fair enough. It's a 2004 Midway third person shooter where you play Nick Scryer, an operative who wakes up with his memory wiped and a head full of psychic powers. Telekinesis, mind control, pyrokinesis, the works. The clever part was that the powers ran through the physics engine, so ripping a guard off a ledge or lobbing a barrel across a room actually had weight behind it. In 2004 that felt genuinely strange and brilliant. It scored an 84 on Metacritic and runs about 10 to 12 hours, which makes it an easy weekend.

Extra is the real question mark

The Extra catalog is the part nobody has seen yet, and it's the reason most people pay for that tier in the first place. Sony hasn't teased a single title, so anything you read today is guesswork. We find out Wednesday morning.

One thing worth watching: Sony has been testing a staggered rollout in a few regions, so the drop day isn't quite as predictable as it used to be. Treat July 21 as a strong expectation, not a promise.
