About Timbertales

Timbertales - about the game

Quick note from the developer:

Are you looking for a turn-based strategy game that offers something different—without the repetitive World War themes? Look no further! Timbertales is the game for you.

Timbertales is a fantasy, turn-based strategy game set in a world where forest animals and insects battle for supremacy. With its unique nature-themed setting, Timbertales offers an exciting departure from the usual strategy tropes. Explore lush forests, face off in tactical battles, and discover a variety of races—more are coming soon!

If you're considering purchasing Timbertales, please keep in mind that I’m a passionate strategy gamer and a solo indie developer. While I’ve poured my heart into the game, the campaign is shorter than you might expect from a AAA title, and the overall content isn’t as extensive. What I do offer is a solid, turn-based strategy game with fresh mechanics and a distinctive theme. Best of all, it comes at a price that’s less than what I’d spend on a coffee to go.

I’m always eager to hear from you, so feel free to contact me directly or engage in the community hub. Your feedback is invaluable, and I’m excited to shape the future of Timbertales based on community input. Be sure to check the latest announcements for ongoing development updates!

Fractions

Timbertales features two main factions: Vermin and Sylvans. Each faction consists of a variety of unique heroes, each with its own abilities and roles—ranging from ranged DPS to melee DPS, support, healing, and more.

Campaign

The story mode of Timbertales introduces you to the Sylvans through a brief tutorial, a prologue, and their dedicated campaign. The Sylvan campaign consists of several missions, each designed to challenge your tactical skills. The Vermin campaign is coming soon!

  • Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Timbertales

  • Tackle innovative mission objectives and challenges

  • Complete missions to unlock special achievements

Challenges

In this unique game mode, you'll draft an army from limited options and face off against a progressively more difficult AI. Each victory increases the challenge level and your rewards.

  • Test your skills in a dynamic, ever-escalating challenge

  • Earn epic rewards with each victory

  • Climb the special challenge ranking

Spheres

Defeated units have a chance to drop special spheres, each with unique effects:

  • Healing Spheres: Restore health to your units

  • Critical Strike Spheres: Increase critical strike chance for several rounds

  • Acorn Point Spheres: Boost your acorn points, the in-game currency used to unlock features

Maps

The Challenge mode feature special maps with optional objectives. Completing these objectives can trigger events that offer strategic advantages in battle.

Timbertales is inspired by classic strategy games such as:
  • Battle Isle

  • Battle World: Kronos

  • Advanced Wars

  • Battle for Wesnoth

  • Jagged Alliance

I wanted to create a game that evokes the feeling of the strategy games I loved growing up, but with a fresh twist—a unique nature theme and deep, challenging gameplay. Unlike 4X strategy games, Timbertales doesn’t involve producing new units during battle. Instead, it adopts a tabletop-like approach, where you must carefully plan and prepare your army before each battle begins.

Each character in Timbertales has their own distinct abilities and playstyle. You’ll choose between standard attacks or using special abilities such as healing, curses, and powerful offensive skills. And stay tuned—more diverse abilities and heroes are on the way!
