This third-person exploration game weaves two parallel stories: a fox searches for her lost family, while a son rebuilds ties with his father in Alaska. Players guide the fox through a moving path that builds toward life's origins and hints at death's meaning. They also discover artifacts and tales from the son's experiences, linking his path to the fox's quest for The First Tree. Light puzzle solving and platforming complement the focused narrative in this indie adventure, which lasts about an hour and a half. A one-man team delivers an emotional tale distinct from fox simulators. Fans of Journey, Firewatch, and Shelter will connect with its intimate story and poignant close.

From the creator of Home is Where One Starts… comes The First Tree, a third-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in an understanding of death. Along the way, players can uncover artifacts and stories from the son's life as he becomes intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.
