About Stone Age Games

Stone Age Games - about the game

Stone Age Games is an indie casual sports title for PC that turns prehistoric life into a collection of absurd mini competitions. Up to four players gather on one screen to tackle twelve events inspired by the earliest forms of athletic contests, with computer controlled cavemen ready to fill any empty spots. The experience blends quick reflexes, timing precision, and light strategy across events that range from tossing heavy objects to guiding flying reptiles through rings.

Gameplay

Each event demands a distinct control approach that fits its theme. In Boulder Toss participants spin rapidly before releasing at the optimal moment to achieve maximum distance. Fire Rubbing requires careful speed management when striking sticks together, as too little movement fails to ignite anything while excessive force breaks the tool. Lake Dive challenges players to manage oxygen levels while swimming underwater for better speed, surfacing only when necessary. Club Duel unfolds as a series of wind up attacks, defensive blocks, and direct strikes in a knockout format. Egg Snatch involves grabbing dinosaur eggs for a personal nest while avoiding a charging mother raptor. Sabertooth Dash tests raw sprinting speed toward safety before becoming prey. Dino Race demands rhythmic button presses synced to a beating drum while riding a racing dinosaur. Egg Ball functions as two versus two football played with a fragile dinosaur egg that hatches if kicked too frequently. Ptero Glide lets players steer a pterodactyl through aerial rings. Volcano Panic drops falling rocks from above until only one survivor remains. Lava Sumo pushes opponents off a steadily shrinking platform into molten lava. Dino Vault combines power and angle adjustments to launch onto the tail of a sleeping brontosaurus.

Controls support multiple gamepads for simultaneous play or shared keyboard input with fully rebindable keys. Animated instructional cards appear before every event to explain the basics without interrupting flow. Cave records track personal bests across sessions, and a full podium ceremony concludes each complete set of events.

Game Modes

Players can choose between a full tournament of all twelve events or a quicker session limited to four events. Individual practice sessions allow focused repetition of any single event to refine technique. Difficulty settings for computer opponents include easy, normal, and hard levels, scaling the challenge for solo or uneven group play. Steam Remote Play Together extends the local setup by letting remote friends join through streaming, preserving the shared screen dynamic.

Party Features

The game emphasizes couch co op accessibility with support for one to four participants on the same display. Computer controlled cavemen automatically occupy unused player slots, maintaining competitive balance regardless of group size. A trophy system rewards consistent performance across the twelve events, while the final podium sequence provides a lighthearted conclusion to each match. These elements keep sessions flexible for short bursts or extended gatherings without requiring online connectivity.

Is It Worth Playing?

Stone Age Games suits groups seeking lighthearted, varied competition rather than deep simulation or long campaigns. Its twelve distinct events deliver repeated novelty through different mechanics, and the local multiplayer focus with easy CPU fillers makes it approachable for mixed skill levels. The absence of ongoing seasonal content or major post launch updates means the experience remains exactly as initially presented, centered on quick matches and casual fun. Players who enjoy party style sports collections with a humorous prehistoric twist will find consistent entertainment value here, particularly in short sessions with friends or family. Those preferring single player depth or frequent new content may find the scope limited after initial playthroughs.
