Runes of the Abyss is a turn-based tactical RPG with roguelike structure, blending party-building, elemental synergy, and permadeath tension. Assemble a party of four unique heroes, each with their own skillset, and dive into handcrafted dungeon floors where enemies, loot, and allies are randomized every run.
⚔️ Strategic Combat
the turn-based combat in Runes of the Abyss is fast and punishing, rewarding clever synergy and efficiency:
Elemental Affinities – Some skills are tied to an element (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Earth, and Light). Enemies and allies have resistances, weaknesses, and interactions—exploit them for critical damage.
Buffs & Debuffs – Other skills alter the tide of battle with status effects: slow enemies, poison or bleed them over time, increase evasion, or seal enemy abilities.
Synergy is King – Pair a class that debuffs defense with one that lands massive single-target damage. Use support spells to empower combos, or sacrifice your own party members for forbidden power.
Synergy Runes – Power up elemental combos or buffs/debuffs (e.g., "Shocked enemies take double Wind damage") or enhance cross-class tactics.

Each run starts with one hero—but you’ll recruit three others from a randomized pool. With no repeats allowed, each team feels different. Classes include:
Paladin – A sturdy all-around hero with light healing and protective buffs.
Thief – High-risk, high-reward critical strikes with shadowy synergy.
Sorcerer – Unleashes powerful elemental magic but has low physical attacks.
Druid – Balances Light and Earth spells, and regeneration.
Gambler – Uses coins and dice to turn probability into power.
Wizard – Master of time control and magical debuffs.
Monk – Agile and powerful attacker who packs a mean punch but can't equip anything.
Rogue – Focused on evasion, poisoning, and quick-strike tactics.
Ranger – Applies range attacks, bleeds and traps from a distance.
Warrior – A bruiser that deals heavy damage, your typical tank.
Fighter – Simple and strong, with limited magic but great early-game skills.
Cleric – Defensive support who can resurrect allies, but has limited offense.
Each with 8 unique skills, including passives, elemental spells, and synergy tools.
