About GLANCED

GLANCED - about the game

GLANCED is an action game set in Early Access on PC that replaces traditional shooting mechanics with a gaze-based system. Players enter a manor filled with porcelain dolls, where meeting a doll's eyes for even a moment turns the character into one of them. The core loop centers on stealth, navigation, and careful avoidance of direct eye contact while retrieving a key from one specific doll to escape through one of nine doors.

Gameplay

The experience emphasizes first-person viewer mechanics over conventional FPS combat. Movement involves running, jumping, and interacting with the environment to stay hidden or reposition without triggering a gaze. Dolls remain stationary until eye contact occurs, at which point the player loses control and joins the collection. Audio cues play a key role, as captured players can still speak and call out, creating tension during rescues or escapes. The design removes automated shooting elements in favor of direct visual confrontations that force players to look away or hold steady.

Single-player sessions focus on infiltrating the house alone, locating the key, and exiting without detection. Multiplayer expands this into team-based scenarios where participants compete or cooperate amid the same hazards. Controls support customization, and a spectator mode allows observation of ongoing sessions. The current build supports multiple languages and runs as a complete, playable experience ahead of further expansions.

Game Modes

Two primary modes define the available play. The single-player mode tasks individuals with navigating the doll-filled manor to secure the key and reach an exit door. The multiplayer mode pits two small teams against each other in a race for the same key, where detection transforms players into dolls that remain part of the environment. Captured teammates can still communicate, adding layers of coordination or betrayal as teams decide whether to attempt rescues. Only one team succeeds in leaving the manor in each session.

These modes operate within the same core house layout during the current Early Access phase. Future updates plan to introduce additional modes, larger group sizes, and expanded level designs once community feedback refines balance and pacing.

Current Development State

GLANCED enters Early Access as a finished playable build rather than a prototype. The developer intends a six-to-twelve-month period focused on adding the full nine-gate difficulty progression, vertical level elements such as basements and attics, character selection options, and a community level editor with Workshop integration. Controller support and additional cutscenes appear in the planned 1.0 release. Players who join early help shape meta elements like team dynamics and fear pacing through direct feedback channels.

Is It Worth Playing?

GLANCED suits players who enjoy asymmetric horror experiences built around tension and visual risk rather than gunplay. The gaze mechanic creates unique standoffs that differ from standard multiplayer shooters, rewarding patience and awareness over reflexes. With single-player and competitive multiplayer options already functional, it offers immediate replayability for groups seeking cooperative infiltration or opposing team races. Those interested in Early Access titles that evolve with player input will find the current version a solid foundation, while others may prefer waiting for the complete 1.0 build with expanded content. The absence of reviews at launch reflects its pre-release status, leaving reception to be determined by actual play sessions.
