You cannot buy Prime Gaming on its own. It comes with Amazon Prime alongside free delivery and the video service, so the sum has to be done on the whole package: if you already use Prime, the gaming part costs nothing extra and simply needs linking to your account. If you do not, you are judging the entire bundle rather than the games, and at that point comparing it with a games subscription stops being like for like.

Three things. Games assigned each month which, once claimed, stay on the account even after the subscription ends, and that sets them apart from the Game Pass and PS Plus catalogues. Add ons for online games, mostly cosmetic items and currency. And one Twitch channel subscription a month, which you assign to a creator of your choice. For many people that last one is the most valuable part of the bundle.

Fundamentally in the model. Game Pass and PS Plus rent you a catalogue: you play while you pay. Prime Gaming hands out individual titles that become yours once claimed, but there are far fewer of them and they do not add up to a library to browse. This is not a service that replaces a games subscription, it is a benefit for someone who uses Prime for other reasons.
