The F-14D Super Tomcat is the most advanced production variant of the American carrier-based fighter developed by Grumman for the aviation branch of the United States Navy. The aircraft is equipped with the upgraded Hughes AN/APG-71 digital radar featuring increased detection range and improved target discrimination, as well as a combined IRST detection system integrating infrared and television channels. Altogether, these improvements significantly enhanced its capabilities in long-range interception, target tracking, and precision strike missions. The fixed forward armament consists of a 20 mm M61A1 Vulcan cannon. For engaging aerial targets, the F-14D can employ up to six AIM-54C Phoenix long-range air-to-air missiles, as well as AIM-7M Sparrow medium-range missiles and AIM-9M Sidewinder short-range missiles.
