About TOKYO WANTED

TOKYO WANTED - about the game

TOKYO WANTED is an asymmetric action game for PC that places players in a bustling Tokyo street scene filled with a crowd of one hundred pedestrians. One side attempts to reach an exit while blending in, while the opposing side tries to identify and apprehend them based on limited information.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on movement and observation within a dense crowd. Culprits must match the pace of surrounding pedestrians to avoid drawing attention, as running stands out and stopping can appear suspicious. Police operate with only two traits listed on a wanted poster, such as black hair and glasses, which means many lookalikes populate the street and require careful investigation to narrow down targets.

Appearance swapping allows culprits to trade looks with nearby pedestrians, breaking chases but triggering an update to the poster that reflects the new description. When caught, players enter a cage where teammates may attempt a rescue, creating moments of risk assessment where one player might abandon the effort to escape or return to free an ally.

Sides switch at halftime, requiring players to adapt between evasion tactics and pursuit strategies within the same session. The crowd itself functions as both cover and a source of witnesses that can report changes or suspicious behavior.

Game Modes

Matches support up to six players in an asymmetric 3v3 setup. Rooms can be created with a passphrase for private groups, while solo play fills remaining spots with CPU opponents. The single match structure incorporates both attack and defense roles through the halftime switch, emphasizing different skills for each phase without separate queues or additional modes.

Key Mechanics

Mechanics emphasize tension between visibility and concealment. Limited poster details force repeated checks and adjustments as new information emerges from reports or failed identifications. Rescue attempts add a layer of teamwork and decision-making, where leaving a teammate behind preserves momentum but risks losing numbers for the remainder of the round.

Swapping serves as the primary tool for disrupting pursuits, though it carries the drawback of updating the shared description that all pursuers see. The environment of one hundred moving pedestrians creates constant obstacles and opportunities for misdirection at every turn.

Is It Worth Playing?

TOKYO WANTED suits players who enjoy asymmetric multiplayer experiences that reward patience, observation, and quick adaptation over direct confrontation. The blend of casual accessibility with action elements makes it approachable for short sessions, while the role reversal keeps matches varied. Those seeking straightforward shooting or complex progression systems may find the focus on crowd blending and limited information less engaging. The game runs on PC and supports both online groups and solo play against AI.
