Set in the late 19th century the world has already begun to rot from the inside out. In Mercy's End, factions wage war in the ruins of civilization from forbidden sources through blood rites, occult rituals, and brands carved into flesh. Some call it purification; others call it truth. Both leave devastation in their wake.
Each system in the Dark West is derived from the frontier itself. You are not the savior. You are simply another soul - a Witness - trying to survive a dying world where luck matters as much as faith, power always comes at a cost, and every step is a gamble in the all consuming darkness.
