About Shards of Azuria

Shards of Azuria - about the game

Shards of Azuria is an isometric craft and build RPG developed for PC. Players create a character and generate a new world before waking up in the town of Azuria, where locals greet them and help them settle in. The experience combines core RPG progression with extensive crafting, building, and exploration across procedurally generated areas.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on looting items from enemies or finding rare crystals, then using those resources in a crafting system that includes over 90 recipes. An inventory holds more than 150 items, allowing players to equip weapons, armor, and other gear while mixing elements from three class types. Leveling up strengthens the character and unlocks new equipment options.

Building forms another major pillar. Players can dig, destroy walls, and place blocks, furniture, or objects to construct a home. A Paint Blaster adds color and customization to surroundings. The day cycle influences the world, and exploration takes players through large generated woodland, cave, and dungeon zones alongside custom town and boss areas. Combat involves fighting a variety of creatures, culminating in a final boss encounter.

Abilities number more than 15 and fall into the categories of Mysticism, Cunning, or Might. Most are obtained through crafting with guidance from three class trainers in Azuria. A dialogue and quest system features six core NPCs and over 20 quests that support progression and creative goals.

Game Modes

Shards of Azuria operates as a singleplayer experience with no multiplayer features implemented. The primary mode involves character creation, world generation, and an open-ended adventure that blends story-driven quests with freeform building and combat. Procedural generation in woodland, cave, and dungeon areas encourages repeated exploration, while custom-designed town and boss zones provide structured challenges. Players advance through leveling, ability acquisition, and equipment upgrades within this unified singleplayer framework.

Progression and Systems

Core RPG mechanics drive long-term engagement. Players gather loot, craft items ranging from combat gear to decorative objects, and experiment with ability combinations across the three class types. The quest system with its six main NPCs provides direction, while the day cycle and generated environments add variety to daily play sessions. Building and painting allow for personal expression without strict limits, supporting both functional homes and creative projects.

Is It Worth Playing?

Shards of Azuria suits players who enjoy isometric RPGs that integrate crafting, building, and light exploration. With mixed reviews on Steam from 78 user submissions showing 62 percent positive feedback, reception varies based on expectations for depth and polish. The game remains available as a complete singleplayer title with all listed features intact, including the final boss and ability system. Those drawn to procedural worlds, home construction, and flexible class-based abilities may find value in its template-like structure, though the absence of further updates means the experience stays as originally released.
