About Scrapjump

Scrapjump - about the game

Scrapjump is an action indie co-op horde shooter for PC that puts players in control of scrap robots fighting through hostile planets. The core loop centers on landing with basic weapons, scavenging better arms from defeated bosses, and surviving escalating waves of enemies until the entire crew falls. Mouse aiming combined with separate left and right clicks for each arm creates precise, hands-on combat that rewards coordination over automation.

Gameplay

Each robot starts equipped with two scrap pistols. Kills drop shards that level the whole crew at once, and every second level grants each player a card to play during lulls at checkpoints or back on the ship. These cards feed into per-arm skill trees that advance up to Mk IX. Better weapons come from beating Wardens, with each robot accessing its own cache containing 48 options across eight families such as rifles, saw discs, beam cutters, and tethers. Any weapon bolted to an arm retains the upgrades already earned on that limb.

Four cartridge types modify projectile behavior on impact. Impulse sends lightning arcing between targets. Heat ignites enemies and spreads fire from fallen foes. Cryo freezes targets, causing them to shatter on follow-up damage. Gravity pulls nearby enemies into a central well. Cartridges from different players can combine for additional reactions, and players discover the exact outcomes of mixes like Thermal Shock or Storm Cluster through direct use. Passive modules, ranked boons, and up to two abilities salvaged from Wardens add further customization, each with their own upgrade paths.

Planets feature distinct enemy types and a Warden encountered three times per visit. The Crane Warden on Rustport hurls cargo containers. The Burrow Warden on Dustfall tunnels underground before surfacing under the crew. The Prism Warden on Cryoforge drags a lance across the battlefield. Additional planets include Verdigrid, where the Relay Warden benefits from repairing drones, and Ironveil, home to the armored Bastion Warden. Between landings the crew returns to the Wayward to spend cores on upgrades and vote on the next destination, with difficulty increasing across successive jumps.

Game Modes

Scrapjump supports sessions for one to four players through online co-op. A single player can tackle runs alone, while groups coordinate separate arm controls and shared progression. XP flows to the entire crew, yet cards and weapon choices remain personal so no one takes another's loot. Players can revive downed teammates, join an active session already in progress, or reconnect after a dropped connection. Steam invites or crew codes handle matchmaking, and the host manages the room for co-op groups.

The experience revolves around repeated planetary landings that form continuous runs. There are no separate named modes beyond this core structure; the game emphasizes survival across escalating threats until the last robot is eliminated. Solo play functions independently, and the shared leveling system keeps the focus on collective endurance rather than individual scores.

Progression and Customization

Weapon families evolve through repeated use on a given arm, unlocking stronger variants within each line. Cartridge effects interact across teammates, encouraging loadout variety during longer sessions. Salvaged Warden abilities provide powerful tools that players equip in limited slots and upgrade separately. The chassis selection at the start of a run offers distinct silhouettes and colors for each seat, with crew outlines visible in matching colors to aid visibility during intense fights. No loot is contested, and the emphasis stays on bolting the right tools for the current planet's threats.

Is It Worth Playing?

Scrapjump targets players who enjoy precise twin-stick style shooting adapted to mouse and dual-button controls within a co-op horde framework. The independent arm aiming and cartridge reaction system stand out as the main draws for those who prefer mechanical depth over guided assistance. With a planned release in November 2026 and no reviews available yet, the decision rests on whether the described dual-arm combat, shared leveling, and planet-specific Warden encounters align with preferences for cooperative survival runs. The game offers both solo and group options with seamless joining features, making it suitable for flexible play sessions once it launches.
