About Night

Night - about the game

Night is a top-down action shooter set in procedurally generated building floors viewed through a security camera lens. Players take on the role of the sole awake guard, navigating dark environments while clearing rooms of threats and confronting a minigun-wielding boss every ten floors. The experience supports solo play or cooperation with up to three AI-controlled allies named Fred, Tomás, and Nina.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on moving through randomly generated floor layouts that change with each run. The visual style mimics CCTV footage, incorporating dynamic lighting, shadows, flashlight beams, muzzle flashes, and flickering emergency lights to create tension in low-visibility areas. Combat emphasizes quick decisions with shooting, reloading, dashing for temporary invincibility, and melee strikes that finish off downed foes or push enemies into walls.

Environmental interactions add layers to encounters. Crates can be destroyed, explosive barrels trigger chain reactions, and objects like tables and monitors serve as temporary cover. Blood splatters remain visible on surfaces after fights, reinforcing the persistent aftermath of each engagement. Procedural generation ensures no two sessions follow identical paths, with players advancing floor by floor until reaching the next boss encounter.

Controls accommodate different input methods. Keyboard and mouse use WASD for movement and mouse aiming, while gamepad support maps the left stick to movement and right stick to aiming. Touch controls provide on-screen options including auto-aim firing. The game includes text support in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Game Modes

Night operates as a single-player procedural campaign where the objective is to progress through successive floors, clearing threats room by room. Each new game creates a fresh layout, turning the experience into repeatable runs focused on survival and boss confrontations at regular intervals. AI allies can join to assist in combat, providing additional firepower without requiring multiplayer connections.

The structure builds around escalating challenges across floors, with no separate competitive or cooperative multiplayer modes beyond the integrated AI companions. Players manage resources and positioning while adapting to the unique enemy placements and environmental hazards generated for that session.

Arsenal, Enemies, and Allies

The available weapons include a pistol, dual pistols, SMG, rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, ricochet gun, and laser weapon. Each offers distinct handling traits such as fire rate, effective range, and reload duration. Players can switch weapons during fights and retain found items for subsequent floors.

Enemy types feature soldiers that flank and call for reinforcements, snipers using laser sights for precision attacks, shield troops that maintain defensive lines, and mobile threats like dogs, drones, and suicide bombers that force constant repositioning. Bosses equipped with miniguns appear every ten floors as major obstacles.

Allies consist of three AI partners-Fred, Tomás, and Nina-who engage enemies alongside the player. Their presence allows for coordinated advances through crowded rooms without altering the fundamental single-player focus.

Is It Worth Playing?

Night targets players who enjoy top-down shooters with procedural elements and a distinctive surveillance-camera aesthetic. The combination of fast-paced shooting, environmental reactivity, and regular boss fights creates a focused loop suited to short or extended sessions. Since the game remains in a coming-soon state with no released version or player reviews available, its appeal depends on interest in the described mechanics of floor clearing and weapon variety.

Those seeking a solo experience with optional AI support and cross-platform control options may find the setup engaging once available. The emphasis on replayability through generated layouts and carried-over weapons provides a clear draw for fans of similar action titles, though final judgment awaits launch and community feedback.
