About Netherhunt

Netherhunt - about the game

Netherhunt is a dark fantasy survival roguelite that combines action and RPG elements in a single-player experience on PC. Players enter cursed realms filled with demons and deadly creatures, selecting a hunter to survive relentless enemy waves while gathering experience and forging powerful builds through weapons, upgrades, and synergies.

Gameplay

The core loop revolves around short survival runs that last about ten minutes each. A player chooses one of two available hunters, each with its own combat style and progression path. Movement and attacks focus on weaving through dense groups of enemies while landing devastating strikes on standard foes, elites, and bosses. Experience collected during a run fuels upgrades that strengthen the character on the spot, and successful hunts unlock permanent options for future attempts.

Equipment plays a central role. Each hunter has nine slots covering weapon, headgear, armor, gloves, belt, boots, amulet, and two rings. Fourteen unique items fill these slots, and players can visit Garrick at the forge to add up to three additional attributes to any piece. Five types of potions provide temporary boosts, while three varieties of church rites offer further enhancements. Profane upgrades and item synergies encourage experimentation with combinations that alter how abilities interact.

Long-term progression comes from Dark Essences offered to Sargoth, the chained lich. These offerings grant permanent talents that carry across runs. Daily and weekly quests supply extra gold and essences, giving consistent reasons to return even after a difficult hunt ends.

Game Modes

Three difficulties shape the challenge level. Normal provides an accessible entry point, Nightmare increases enemy density and damage, and Hell demands precise play and strong builds. Three distinct stages feature unique environments and monster sets drawn from fire, ice, and necromantic themes.

Endless Mode shifts the focus to sustained survival. Players face continuous waves that grow harder over successive rounds. Pacts can be selected to raise both risk and potential rewards, creating a separate loop for those who want extended sessions beyond the standard ten-minute format.

Realms remain hostile throughout every mode. Danger escalates steadily, forcing constant adaptation as new enemy types and elite variants appear. The single-player structure keeps attention on individual skill and build decisions rather than coordination with others.

Progression and Builds

Build crafting centers on mixing weapons with upgrades and synergies to counter specific threats. A run might emphasize area-clearing attacks against hordes or focused damage against bosses. Reforging items at the forge and layering potion effects allow fine-tuning for each stage or difficulty.

Church rites add another layer of customization. The three rite types complement different play styles, whether a hunter favors aggressive offense or defensive sustain. Permanent talents from Sargoth further diversify options, letting players specialize over multiple sessions.

Quests integrate directly into the loop. Completing daily and weekly objectives rewards resources that speed up talent acquisition and item improvements, encouraging regular play without requiring long sessions.

Is It Worth Playing?

Netherhunt suits players who enjoy roguelite runs that reward quick decision-making and iterative build refinement. The Early Access version already contains the full core loop, including all listed stages, difficulties, Endless Mode with Pacts, two hunters, potion types, church rites, equipment slots, item count, reforging, talents, and quest systems. No user reviews exist yet because the game has not launched.

Those drawn to dark fantasy settings, short repeatable sessions, and deep equipment customization will find the current content substantial. The planned twelve-month Early Access period focuses on balance, polish, and additional content based on player input. Individuals who prefer finished products with extensive post-launch support may wish to wait until the full release. The game remains single-player only, with no multiplayer features confirmed.
