About MITO

MITO - about the game

MITO is a third-person survival horror game set in 1950s Colombia that blends action and adventure elements with a strong emphasis on atmospheric tension and investigation. Players take on the role of Valeria as she searches for her missing brother inside an abandoned colonial mansion in a small town. Greed over stolen indigenous gold known as guaca has disturbed ancient forces, releasing vengeful spirits and hostile grave robbers called huaqueros. The experience centers on careful movement through dimly lit spaces, solving environmental puzzles, and piecing together documents that reveal the building's troubled past.

Gameplay

The core loop revolves around exploration inside the mansion's eerie hallways and rooms. Players collect clues and hidden documents that advance the narrative while managing an inventory of limited items. Resource management plays a key role as supplies must be used strategically to progress without drawing attention. Environmental puzzles require observation and interaction with the surroundings rather than direct confrontation. Stealth mechanics help avoid both human threats and supernatural entities that lurk in the shadows. Tension builds through sound design and visual cues that signal nearby dangers, encouraging slow and deliberate navigation. The prototype version highlights atmosphere and discovery over combat, with each new area increasing the sense of unease as myth and reality overlap.

Game Modes

MITO operates as a single-player experience with no confirmed multiplayer options or separate game modes at this stage. The prototype delivers one main level focused on the mansion itself, where the primary activities include exploration, puzzle solving, clue gathering, and stealth encounters. This structure supports a linear yet investigative path that rewards attention to detail and careful decision making. Future updates during the Early Access period may expand available content and systems, but the current build centers on this focused single-player loop.

Story and Atmosphere

The narrative follows Valeria's personal quest while uncovering the mansion owner's obsession with forbidden treasure. Documents scattered throughout the environment provide background on the desecration of sacred sites and the resulting supernatural backlash. Players encounter a mix of human adversaries in the form of huaqueros and otherworldly threats tied to Colombian folklore. The setting draws from historical elements of the 1950s period in Colombia, creating a grounded yet unsettling environment where guilt and fear accumulate with every discovery. The prototype ends with a notable encounter involving a mysterious silhouette, leaving outcomes dependent on prior choices and thoroughness.

Is It Worth Playing?

MITO enters Early Access as a work-in-progress prototype that already demonstrates a stable core loop of exploration, resource management, environmental puzzles, and stealth. The developer plans a 12 to 24 month period in this phase, with initial access offered free before a price is introduced. Planned additions include more areas, additional enemy types, expanded story elements, and quality-of-life improvements such as accessibility options. No user reviews or ratings exist yet due to the game's status as coming soon. This title suits players who enjoy deliberate, investigation-driven horror without heavy combat focus. Those interested in atmospheric single-player adventures set in culturally inspired locations may find value in following its development through community feedback channels. The current build offers a taste of the intended experience, with potential for growth based on player input.
