About Last Evac

Last Evac - about the game

Last Evac is a top-down pixel-art battle royale survival game for PC that places up to 60 players in a ruined city with one helicopter as the only exit. Players parachute in from the evac helicopter, scavenge for gear, and compete to be the last one standing so the helicopter returns to extract them. The game emphasizes line-of-sight restrictions, environmental audio cues, and role-based abilities in matches that mix looting, crafting, and combat.

Gameplay

Matches begin with a helicopter flight over the city where players choose when to jump and parachute down. Once on the ground, the core loop involves scavenging weapons, armor, and medicine from loot chests while crafting missing items from gathered materials like cloth, chemicals, wood, and scrap. Weight limits on backpacks force careful inventory decisions rather than simple slot management. Combat relies on 15 guns ranging from pocket pistols to rare .50 caliber sniper rifles, along with melee options like knives and axes. Attachments such as scopes, extended magazines, suppressors, and grips alter performance, with suppressors preventing shots from being heard across the map.

Sound design plays a central role. Footsteps, gunshots, creaking doors, and crows taking flight reveal positions. Rain dampens movement noise while thunder can mask gunfire. Doors can be opened, slammed, broken, or barricaded for tactical advantage. Explosive barrels add risk when destroyed near enemies, and trees can be chopped for resources. Supply helicopters appear twice per match to drop rare loot crates marked by red smoke flares visible to all players. Weather and time of day vary each match, affecting visibility and atmosphere with options like clear skies, rain, thunderstorms, or dusk lighting that activates street lamps.

Game Modes

The primary experience supports solo play or duo teams with a Steam friend. Duo partners share vision, use one-click pings for enemies, loot, and locations, mark landing spots on the map, and revive each other. Matches run on dedicated servers with bots filling empty slots to ensure quick starts. Cross-play works between Windows and macOS players. Every match features a unique flight path, loot distribution, and shrinking zone, keeping runs distinct.

Roles and Abilities

Players select from three roles, each with two abilities. The Scout deploys a pet crow that flies over walls to reveal surroundings and marks nearby enemies, while Keen Ears converts sounds into visual ripples indicating their origin. The Breaker uses a scrap shield to block frontal bullets and throws Molotov cocktails to set fire to the ground and flush opponents from cover, plus breaks doors twice as fast. The Medic applies Quick Wrap for healing over three seconds while moving and equips a gas mask to temporarily ignore zone damage. These abilities operate on different cooldowns, with Q on a short timer and F as the stronger option.

Progression and Customization

Players earn XP and levels across matches to master roles and complete weekly challenges. Leaderboards allow comparison with friends. A personal rooftop hideout expands with career progress, and the evac helicopter lands there when a match begins. Character customization covers body type, skin, hair, and clothing. Fifteen Steam achievements track milestones.

Is It Worth Playing?

Last Evac targets players who enjoy tactical multiplayer survival experiences with strong emphasis on positioning, audio awareness, and ability synergies in a shrinking play area. The early access phase includes the full listed feature set of 60-player matches, three roles, extensive loot and crafting systems, solo and duo support, and varied environmental conditions. Dedicated servers and bot fillers support consistent matchmaking. As development continues with community feedback on balance and additions, the game suits those comfortable with iterative updates in an action indie title. It offers a distinct take on battle royale through its top-down perspective and vision-blocking mechanics rather than standard third-person or first-person views.
