About HAZPIT

HAZPIT - about the game

HAZPIT is a top-down survival game set in zombie-infested high-rises. Players descend floor by floor from the roof of ruined buildings, gathering supplies to strengthen a bunker while managing risk from radiation, zombies, and limited resources. The experience runs entirely in single-player on PC and remains in Early Access with a focused set of systems built around stealth, combat choices, and incremental base improvement.

Gameplay

A helicopter drops the player onto the roof of each building. From there the goal centers on locating stairs to move downward. Lower floors increase radiation levels and zombie density, yet they also hold stronger loot. Some floors include emergency exits while others force a longer route back up. Players decide when to turn around based on bag capacity and current threats, creating a loop of short expeditions that reward careful planning over reckless pushes.

Stealth forms the preferred approach. Each zombie displays its field of view on the floor, and noise propagation is shown in real time. Players can slip past groups or position themselves for silent takedowns from behind. The takedown animation changes depending on whether bare hands, a blade, or a blunt weapon is equipped. Direct fights remain possible but accelerate weapon wear and hunger. When spotted, a roll dodge helps create distance, and mashing the spacebar breaks grabs. These mechanics encourage observation and positioning before any engagement.

Materials collected during runs return to the bunker for repairs and upgrades. Eight facilities start in disrepair: the workbench, kitchen, farm, traps, water station, salvage bench, research bench, and rest area. Each requires an assigned survivor to operate, and assigned survivors stay behind during the next expedition. One expedition consumes one in-game day, with crafting and repairs completing upon return. More survivors increase food demands, so recruitment decisions carry ongoing consequences. Weapons and armor appear in varying grades with random bonuses, adding variety to each find.

Game Modes

HAZPIT offers a single-player experience with no multiplayer components. The core loop revolves around repeated building expeditions that feed into bunker development and occasional defense events. No separate competitive or cooperative modes exist. Progression stays tied to the same systems across all play sessions, with the player managing a growing group of survivors who alternate between expeditions and facility work.

Bunker Development and Survivor Management

Facilities improve through gathered materials and assigned labor. Upgrades unlock better crafting options, food production, water collection, and defensive tools. Survivors each bring unique stats, skills, and personal quests that influence their effectiveness on runs or at the bunker. The player selects the expedition team each day while the remainder contribute to base upkeep or rest. This assignment system creates trade-offs between immediate exploration gains and long-term facility progress.

Knocked-out survivors return to the bunker for recovery rather than causing a full reset. Their dropped items remain in the building for a limited time, allowing recovery on a follow-up visit. The bunker itself and any remaining survivors stay intact, preserving overall progress even after setbacks.

Is It Worth Playing?

HAZPIT suits players who enjoy methodical single-player survival with strong emphasis on stealth, resource decisions, and base-building loops. The Early Access version includes twelve buildings across apartments, offices, hospitals, and similar structures, six survivors, all eight bunker facilities, horde defense encounters with a boss zombie, and a visiting black-market trader. A cat also appears in the bunker. Support for Korean, English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese is present. The game is developed by one person, and the current content delivers a complete core loop focused on floor-by-floor descents and bunker growth. Those seeking a solo experience centered on careful planning and incremental upgrades will find the systems rewarding, while players looking for multiplayer or larger-scale open worlds may want to wait for further updates.
