About Family X Project

Family X Project - about the game

Family X Project is a hand-animated 2D fighting game that pits fighters from four worlds against one another in a shared arena. Players select from a roster of distinct characters and customize their approach before each bout through style and sub-mode choices that reshape how the meter and defense function. The result is a competitive fighter built around platform stages, air combos, and precise inputs on PC.

Gameplay

Every fighter shares a universal combat system while hiding unique chains, command normals, and ultimates. Five buttons handle attacks in three strength levels, a dedicated ultimate, and blocking. The core chain flows from normal or command normal into special, then into ultimate or hidden ultimate. Command moves insert before the special and open specific routes for each character.

Defense options include high and mid blocking with lows covered by crouching, timed parries that stun opponents for half a second, and phase dashes that pass through projectiles and opponents. Vertical dashes reposition in the air or on the ground. Throws break blocks but lose to attacks during startup. The counter triangle governs interactions: attacks beat grabs, grabs beat blocks, and blocks beat attacks. Pits on certain stages turn knockbacks or throws into instant knockouts with no recovery possible once an edge is crossed.

Styles determine meter behavior. Rage builds from taking hits and unleashes an ultimate when full. Super fills from attacking or being hit and stores up to three bars for spending on super moves. Incantation charges via a specific input and grants unlimited supers plus full move cancels once complete. Sub-modes alter defensive tools. Cancel charges from hits and allows up to two cancels. Escape builds over time and pushes opponents away with a recovery delay. Vanguard fills from damage and grants speed plus chainable inputs for a limited window. Vanish fills from damage and provides armor that reduces incoming damage.

Game Modes

Matches support up to four players in one-on-one, free-for-all, or two-versus-two formats. Platform stages encourage knocking opponents off edges while juggles and air combos extend pressure. Online play uses lockstep netcode for two machines handling up to four fighters. Public or private lobbies let hosts set styles and sub-modes before matches begin. Ranked queues cover 1v1 and 2v2, with a casual queue available for non-competitive sessions. Profiles track wins, losses, and win rates. A tier ladder tracks seasonal progress, and separate leaderboards rank 1v1 and 2v2 performance.

Training and Roster

A dedicated training lab supports learning with command lists, dummy settings for counter hits, auto-block, auto-parry, and infinite bars, plus combo counters and callouts. These tools help both new players and streamers analyze interactions. The roster launches with twenty fighters, each featuring hand-made attacks, supers, hidden ultimates, and unique intros and endings. Additional characters are planned after launch.

Is It Worth Playing?

Family X Project targets players who enjoy customizable meter systems and defensive options within a 2D fighting framework. The style and sub-mode selections let the same character perform differently across matches, while the shared universal system keeps fundamentals consistent. Online features including ranked queues, lobbies, and leaderboards support competitive play, and the training lab aids skill development. The game remains in active development with a growing roster, making it suitable for those seeking an evolving indie fighter rather than a finished product with extensive post-launch content. Those drawn to platform-based combat, precise inputs, and meter-driven variety will find the core loop rewarding once the roster expands further.
