About Dust to Life

Dust to Life - about the game
Be the matter, or the force against it.
Evolution: the climb from dust to life

You begin as one particle drifting in the dark. Collect what drifts around you, grow, and evolve. That first act of attraction begins a long climb, from raw matter to a living, self-sustaining organism.

But evolution isn't safe. The bigger you become, the more the world wants you gone. Every stage brings a new way to play:

  • Particle: find your opposite nucleon and take your first pull inward.

  • Nucleus: cluster into a core while something bigger begins to hunt you.

  • Atom: charged and whole, you finally fight back, and the arena turns lethal.

  • Molecule: bond into a structure and harvest rival molecules while a predator strips you apart.

  • DNA: a trailing double helix in a fast, snake-like chase through drifting ion clouds.

  • Cell: grow, divide, and shake off what has latched onto you before it breaks you down.

  • Organism: alive at last, and fragile. Hold yourself in balance long enough to finish the climb.

Pick one of three upgrades as you enter each stage. Finish the climb and Evolution Hardcore opens up: one life, no second chances.

Survival: your cursor is the weapon

Here you aren't the matter. You're the force acting on it. Matter drifts in and fills the screen, and your abilities fire from the cursor on their own, so where you put it is the whole game.

Every run is five minutes:

  • The atomic world: protons, neutrons, atoms, molecules and DNA pour in. Don't let them overflow the screen.

  • The cellular world: everything shrinks away and life takes over, first cells, then organisms.

  • The worm: at five minutes something big arrives. Kill it before it overruns you.

Every kill drops Energy. Spend it between runs on four abilities (Gamma Burst, Electron Swarm, Free Radicals and Positron Beam), push each one to its power-up, and go again. The goal: kill the worm in as few attempts as you can.

Features
  • Two modes, one world: a complete Evolution climb with an ending, plus five-minute Survival runs built for repeated attempts.

  • A climb with an ending: Evolution is a complete run from the first particle to the final stage, not an endless score chase.

  • Choose your edge: in Evolution, pick one of three upgrades on entering a stage. They reset when you evolve, so every run is shaped by your calls.

  • Build your arsenal: in Survival, every run pays Energy for the shop, so each attempt starts a little stronger than the last.

  • Real threats: predators, a one-shot plasma field, viruses, rival entities that hunt and grow alongside you, and a worm waiting at the end.

  • Evolution Hardcore: one life, no respawns, and you take more damage, for players who want the climb to bite back.

  • Steam achievements: 20 across both modes, from a flawless DNA run to killing the worm.

  • Inspired by real science: protons and neutrons bond into a nucleus, electrons fill orbit rings, DNA pairs its bases and cells divide. Survival's abilities take their names from real physics.

  • Fully localized: playable in 13 languages.

Everything alive was once dust. Make the climb.
