About Cyber Volleyball

Cyber Volleyball - about the game

Cyber Volleyball is a 2D side-scrolling volleyball battle game that blends precise physics simulation with character progression and online multiplayer. It places players in control of specialized characters who spike, block, and dig under strict three-hit rules on a side-view court.

Gameplay

The core loop revolves around realistic ball movement handled by a Unity-based 2D parabolic physics engine. Gravitational acceleration, object weight, air resistance, and friction all influence every bounce and collision with the court, net, and players. A three-hit system enforces international volleyball rules, with on-screen UI feedback tracking the current hit count. Two trajectory prediction lines appear to show high and low landing points, allowing precise positioning for returns or attacks.

Over a dozen character types bring distinct AI behaviors and skills to matches. Main Attacker focuses on powerful spikes as the finisher. Setter handles receives and distributes passes for offensive setups. Middle Blocker excels at both blocking and quick attacks. Libero specializes in defensive receives and digs. Hunter pursues the ball with high force. Claw pulls the ball instantly for surprise plays. Shockwave creates knockback on spikes. Violence adds extra effects to spikes. Ice briefly freezes opponents. Eater swallows and redirects the ball. Builder places obstacles near the net. Shooter charges and fires at exact targets. Each type demands tailored tactics, as enemy combinations shift across encounters.

Controls support keyboard input with arrow keys for movement, spacebar for jumps, and J/K/L for actions. Mobile touch gestures recognize swipe direction and length to map the same volleyball moves. Settings allow full customization of key bindings, volume levels for master, BGM, and SFX, glow effects, ball trail colors, and touch sensitivity. Fullscreen toggles with F11, and all changes save automatically.

Game Modes

Five distinct modes structure play sessions. Tutorial Mode walks through controls and rules in sequence. PVE Mode pits players against AI opponents at adjustable difficulty. PVP Mode enables local matches against friends. EVE Mode lets observers watch AI versus AI contests. Adventure Mode presents a stage-based campaign where players progress through increasingly tough enemy groups.

Adventure stages appear in pages of 28, each rated up to three stars. Higher difficulties introduce mechanics such as invisible enemies that test timing and positioning. Star progress saves locally for ongoing review. The card system expands customization in all modes through Character Cards and Item Cards. Character Cards upgrade nine attributes including Size, Defense, Jump, Speed, Strength, Reaction, Spike Range, Dig, and Dash using earned stars. Item Cards add match effects like larger team sizes, removal of opponent first-touch rules, landing predictions, freezing attacks, or lighter balls on higher hit counts.

Online Multiplayer

A built-in lobby supports public and private rooms with password protection, player limits, and visibility options. Automatic matchmaking speeds up opponent searches. Players select positions such as Main Attacker, Middle Blocker, Setter, or Libero, with checks preventing duplicates on the same team. Matches start once everyone readies up. Server-authoritative networking keeps physics and results synchronized. Real-time chat runs during games for coordination or banter.

Is It Worth Playing?

Cyber Volleyball suits players who enjoy physics-driven sports action combined with strategic team building and progression. The detailed simulation of ball behavior, varied enemy skills, and card-based upgrades create repeatable depth across single-player stages and online matches. Local and online options, plus mobile controls, broaden accessibility for different play styles. With release still pending and no user reviews available yet, the game appeals most to those drawn to precise 2D volleyball mechanics and customizable lineups rather than pure arcade sports or large-scale multiplayer titles. Its focused feature set delivers consistent matches without unnecessary complexity.
