About CrashFest

CrashFest - about the game

CrashFest is an indie casual racing game for PC that puts track construction and chaotic local multiplayer at the center of every session. Up to six players build and race on circuits that evolve round by round, with no pre-made tracks or traditional level selection. The experience centers on shared-screen couch play where friends and AI opponents add pieces to the course between races, turning a simple loop into a growing, hazard-filled battlefield.

Gameplay

The core loop begins with an empty grid. Players and bots each place one of 27 snap-together track pieces in finishing order after every round. These pieces include hairpins, sweepers, chicanes, banked curves, ramps, helixes, and sections with holes straight through the road. By the fifth round the layout has often tripled in length and accumulated permanent hazards such as mines and barriers dropped during earlier races.

Seven power-ups keep the action unpredictable: shotgun, landmine, barrier, tyre stack, tow line, shield, and a homing missile. A crash does not end a player's round; instead the car waits as a ghost at the next gate and rejoins when a survivor reaches it. Falling too far behind the camera removes the car from play entirely. Armco barriers along the edges can be toggled off for higher stakes. Matches run to a points target and typically last around fifteen minutes across five rounds.

Bots participate fully in track building and racing, selecting pieces at random. Players can start from a blank slate or load a saved layout created in a previous session. Controller support covers up to four gamepads with proper Xbox and PlayStation mapping, while keyboard input fills remaining seats. The lobby remembers chosen colors and names for quick restarts.

Game Modes

The main racing experience grows the shared track each round. Three additional arena modes remove the circuit entirely and focus on direct confrontation on a single rooftop surface.

  • SUMO places six cars on an open rooftop with a central hole and no guardrails; the last car still on the platform wins.
  • BOMB TAG confines cars to a walled roof with one bomb whose fuse never resets; touching another car passes the bomb along.
  • TURF divides the floor into slices with one ball in play; points accumulate for every second the ball rests in a player's slice, and no one is eliminated.

These modes support the same local multiplayer setup and bot opponents, offering quick variety when a full track race is not desired.

Local Multiplayer Focus

CrashFest emphasizes one-screen, sofa-based sessions rather than online matchmaking. Six cars share the grid, and bots automatically yield seats when additional controllers connect. The short match length and evolving track keep groups engaged without long setup times. Keyboard and controller mixing allows mixed groups to join without waiting for a full lobby. Color and name persistence reduces friction between rounds, letting players jump straight back into the next growing circuit or arena match.

Is It Worth Playing?

CrashFest suits players who enjoy creative, unpredictable local racing sessions with friends. The track-building system and permanent hazards create emergent chaos that changes every match, while the three arena modes provide instant alternatives. Power-ups and ghost-rejoin mechanics keep everyone involved even after mistakes. As an upcoming title with a planned December 2026 release, it currently has no player reviews or long-term support details available. Those seeking a fresh take on casual couch racing with strong emphasis on shared creativity and short, repeatable matches will find the described systems appealing once it launches.
