Blood Seoul is a side-scrolling action RPG developed for PC that places players in the role of a vampire Lord fighting through undead hordes in a rain-soaked, neon-lit version of Seoul. The game blends direct sword combat with companion support and light RPG progression systems, all set against a backdrop of rival vampire factions and their monster legions.
Gameplay
Combat centers on hands-on control of the Lord character at all times. Players execute three-hit sword combos that end in a dashing finisher, launch charged crimson waves, perform gap-closing rushes, and use chains to pull up to twelve enemies toward them. Enemies telegraph attacks clearly, allowing players to use the Blood Dance Step to slip past strikes or time a last-moment dodge for a Perfect Dodge that opens a brief window of guaranteed critical hits.
Staggering foes requires wearing down their Poise meter, after which an Execution can finish them off. A live style rank from C to S and a combo counter track performance during fights, with each stage receiving its own final rank. Close-range fighting builds a Blood Gauge through strikes, kills, and Perfect Dodges. Players can spend accumulated Blood on Executions or fill the gauge to trigger Blood Moon Descends for twelve seconds of boosted power, speed, and life drain. The Bloodblade Drain ability sweeps a wide arc and restores health from every enemy struck.
Nine Companions join the fight, each with a distinct role such as the Mad Hound's stomp, the Enforcer's frenzy combo, the Bat Dancer's bat barrage, the Shadow's ambush, the Miko's binding talismans, the Mudang's spirit blessing, the Surgeon's emergency transfusion, the Blood Kin's shared blood, and the Seer's weak-point marks. Up to four Companions can be taken into battle, where they act independently but focus on targets the Lord strikes. The Lord character remains under direct player control at all times.
Game Modes
The core experience is a single-player campaign fought across six districts of Seoul and four underground dungeons. Stages span locations including Myeongdong, Gwanghwamun, Dongdaemun, Yeouido, Gangnam, and Jamsil, along with Euljiro Ghost Station, City Hall Bunker, Sealed Institute, and Jongno Rift. Players face zombies, skeletons, imps, werewolves, necromancers, rival vampires, and district bosses while progressing from midnight to dawn.
Possession co-op allows other players who own the game to join an online session and take control of the Companions, with up to four guests participating at once. The Lord's actions stay under the host's control. If a guest becomes idle, the Companion reverts to AI control. The single-player campaign functions fully without any online participation.
Progression and Customization
Players customize the Lord through skill variants, traits, and equipment. Each of the seven core skills offers variants that alter movement or rewards, resulting in twenty-eight options total. An Oath system feeds into a thirty-node trait tree topped by a Keystone. Equipment occupies six slots across five rarities, including twelve Legendary items whose Engravings activate on specific actions such as Executions, Perfect Dodges, or Poise breaks. Gamepad support is included, and the game supports sixteen languages.
Is It Worth Playing?
Blood Seoul targets players who enjoy stylish, timing-focused action combat paired with companion mechanics and incremental character building in an action RPG framework. The direct control emphasis and co-op possession feature distinguish it from games that rely on auto-battle systems. Because the title remains in a pre-release state with no completed player reviews available, any final assessment depends on individual interest in the verified combat loop, district-based stages, and optional online companion possession. Those drawn to side-scrolling brawlers with vampire themes and Seoul-inspired settings may find the described systems align with their preferences once the game becomes available.
