Beeline is an action indie game for PC in which players control a tiny bee armed with a powerful arsenal. The core experience combines automatic weapon fire with manual ability timing and hive support calls during ten-wave survival runs against escalating natural threats. Between waves, the focus shifts to grid-based hive construction and resource management to strengthen future attempts.
Gameplay
Combat emphasizes positioning and timing rather than constant manual aiming. Weapons activate automatically once equipped, leaving the player to direct movement, trigger special abilities, and summon aerial support from the hive when swarms close in. Enemies form coordinated attack patterns, predict paths, and attempt to flank or intercept, while storms and environmental hazards add layers of risk that change with each run. Weapon and ability evolutions create synergies that alter function rather than simply increasing damage output.
Between waves, players return to the hive for upgrades, resource banking, and preparation. Grid-based placement allows structures to be positioned freely as illuminated areas expand with survival progress. Production buildings generate resources passively, crafting stations unlock new options, and a skill tree delivers permanent improvements. The system rewards focused investment in offense, defense, economy, or specific weapon families, with related options appearing more frequently as a result.
Game Modes
Beeline centers on single-player runs consisting of ten escalating waves set in distinct biomes. Forest and Snow each feature unique enemy formations, resource availability, event timing, boss encounters, and a day-night cycle that influences hazards. Specialist bees provide different starting stat profiles and abilities, while loadout choices before each run determine starting pressure and rewards. Runs can be resumed from the last hive intermission if interrupted, and banked resources plus a portion of earnings carry forward to support long-term progression across attempts.
Hive Building and Progression
The hive serves as both sanctuary and strategic hub. Structures fall into categories that unlock battlefield support such as strikes, sustain effects, supply drops, control tools, and defensive measures. Ten combat call-ins are available at launch, with some limited in uses per run. Permanent upgrades expand the starting loadout over time, eventually allowing up to five weapons, five abilities, additional stat points, and multiple hive call-ins. Contracts and skill tree nodes further customize capabilities without increasing run difficulty.
Biomes introduce varied challenges that test different builds. Later areas can bring stronger enemies earlier, so a loadout effective in one setting may require adjustment for another. Environmental events and elites provide additional variables that reward adaptive play.
Is It Worth Playing?
Beeline targets players who enjoy survivors-like action with added emphasis on build strategy, timing, and base-building decisions. The early access launch includes twenty bees, eight weapons with fifty evolutions, twenty non-character abilities, grid-based hive systems, two biomes, and extensive skill tree options. A demo is available for those interested in testing the core loop before the November 6, 2026 early access release. Feedback during this phase will influence balance, clarity, and future content priorities on the path to version 1.0.
