YOU HAVE BEEN AWAKENED
You are old, one of many. This solar system is your outpost. Start your existential automation task.
BUILD SPACE FACTORY
Build a vast industrial space factory in a solar system and it's many moons and other celestial bodies. Mine, harvest, explore, exploit. Manage logistics with a new factory game mechanism: railguns, ballistic payloads and gravity-bending haulers. Fight gravity with Focus. Choose the branches of the vast technology tree to discover increasingly exotic new technologies and ways to carry on. Expand into the depths of the violent gravity well of the local star and far to the outer edges of the solar system in this Newtonian automation sim.
Everything is a potential resource - even the Locals.
IN SPACE, CONVEYOR BELTS ARE FUTILE
No conveyor belts or momentum defying space drones. To move resources in Asema, you must master physics: build logistical networks that fire resources across the void using railguns and ballistic payloads - or build a great spacetime-bending hauler to transport heavy cargo - or bunch of smaller ones. In the end, you may end up doing all of it to achieve your goals.
Start with drifter-payloads, move into medium-range railgun logistics, stretch your borders with long range railgun patterns that require moons as foundations to null recoil - and build various types of ships and haulers.
EXPAND, HARVEST, MINE
Found a promising setting of moons, asteroid streams and other valuable resources in one of your scouting flights?
Build and attach railguns onto the heavy hauler, load it with resources and start your journey to set up the new outpost. While you travel there, figure out how you will arrange the logistics. A logistics substation in space, or on a moon? Should you build an artificial moon?
Everything in Asema has mass, velocity and composition.
Everything is matter and it won't stop without a very good reason.
PAY THE GRAVITY TAX
Operating near celestial bodies introduces a logistical challenge: gravity.
To extract the dense, valuable cores of large moons, your machines must compute constant anti-gravity trajectories. This requires a dedicated production line of Focus : a computational resource that demands immense energy. The deeper you operate in the various gravity well types, the more you need Focus. Your Focus production arrays require energy - forcing you to hunt down ice moons and asteroids just to keep your fragile systems operating.
While the bulk machines you start with, work well in any conditions, some more fragile and exotic technologies need to be placed away from gravity - while other machines may require immense gravity to function. Find the balance.
You may even use a gravity obelisk to change the trajectory of asteroid streams to hit your processing maw arrays.
CRACK THE RAW MATTER
The Asema asteroids are parts of a complex space eco system that is loosely based in reality. There are various ways of acquiring various types of resources: Silicates, Volatiles, Metallics - and later, the game introduces more and more to mine, seek and harvest.
The Cores: Small, dense and valuable. High density of valuables.
The Aggregate: Fluffy clouds of gravel, easy to mine but difficult to herd without losing large portions of mass.
The Breccia: Like eggs, hard crusts with rich, loose interiors.
LAND OR SPACE?
It's your pick. In Asema, land is like islands in the ocean - the many types of prodecurally generated moons await for you to discover them, mine them and fill them with machinery. While it feels good to build on solid ground, they also introduce gravity. Even a weak gravity bends the trajectories of payloads, haulers and asteroids - pay attention to Focus.
VOID OR CHAOS?
Far away in the space where the local star is dim and distant, there is more space, more darkness and more peace for delicate, exotic technologies of mid- and end game technology machines. You choose your path towards the goal by picking a branch of technology to base your expansion philosophy on.
TECHNOLOGIES
Start with the basic machines - once you have a functioning resource production running, you will be able to unlock new branches of technologies. Each branch offers different ways to play, fight, progress and expand. The branches are divided into tiers and each machine type can be evolved by leveling them up - this makes them faster, more efficient and more responsive.
THE ULTIMATE MACHINE
Scale your operations from a single void-extractor to a multi-moon logistical nightmare expanding from the deep gravity well of the inner solar system into the far, cold reach of the Void. Exploit the Locals, manage the thermal output of your arrays, and fullfill the real destiny you were awakened for.
There may be infinite amount of your kind in the cosmos at large: older than the stellar dust - but for you, the only space that matters is the one you can silence.
