WRC 5 is a rally racing simulation for PC that recreates the official FIA World Rally Championship. Players compete across real-world events with licensed cars and locations drawn from the 2015 season calendar.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on navigating special stages in varied conditions. Each rally features five stages that test handling on surfaces ranging from tarmac to gravel and snow. The handling model rewards precise throttle control and line choice rather than outright simulation depth. Career progression begins in junior categories before advancing through two seasons toward the top tier. Stages include realistic elevation changes and surface transitions that affect traction and visibility.
Game Modes
Quick Stage allows selection of individual timed runs on any unlocked stage. Quick Rally groups multiple stages into full events. Championship mode assembles complete rallies into a season-long competition. Career mode tracks driver advancement across categories with team management elements kept minimal. Rally School provides structured lessons on techniques for different surfaces. Local and online multiplayer options support head-to-head stage times and leaderboard challenges.
Season Pass Content
The Season Pass expands the base roster with all thirteen official rallies from the WRC calendar. These include Rallye Monte Carlo, Rally Sweden, Rally Guanajuato México, Xion Rally Argentina, Vodafone Rally de Portugal, Rally Italia Sardegna, LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland, Neste Oil Rally Finland, ADAC Rallye Deutschland, Coates Hire Rally Australia, Tour de Corse Rallye de France, Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, and Wales Rally GB. Three exclusive concept cars become available for use in Quick Rally and Quick Stage. The additional rallies and vehicles arrived through two separate downloadable packs released between January and June 2016.
Is It Worth Playing?
Steam user reviews rate the game as Mostly Positive with 73 percent approval from over 1,400 submissions. The title appeals to players seeking an official WRC experience with straightforward progression and stage variety. Those who prefer deeper simulation physics may find the handling lighter than dedicated rally titles, while the official license and complete event list provide strong value for championship fans. No further updates or seasons have been released since the original content cycle concluded in 2016, so the game exists in its final state on PC.
