A village that talks back
Tryll Colony is a colony sim about a small village in a wild, cold land and the people who live in it. Build homes, farms and a tavern, get ready for winter, and keep everyone fed, warm and happy.Your settlers are more than numbers on a card. Click one, press Talk and say whatever you like: type it, or say it into your microphone. They answer in their own voice, remember what you told them and decide for themselves how far they trust you.
Lead with words
- Give orders in plain language. "Go chop some wood until evening." "From now on you're our main farmer." "Take tomorrow off." The game works out what you mean and your settler gets to work, or refuses if they resent you.
- Make promises, then keep them. Promise a bed, a well or a warm coat and the game holds you to the deadline. Kept promises build trust. Broken ones turn into grumbling at the tavern.
- Praise, comfort, or push too hard. Ask a tired farmer to work through the night and they might agree, then complain about it later.
Haggle, interview, spin the news
- Haggle with traders. Name your price, ask for credit or plead for a discount. One trader loves a good bargain, a proud one takes offence, and you only find out by trying.
- Interview refugees. Newcomers ask to join, but some lie about their skills, their flaws or their health. Ask the right questions and they may slip.
- Run the village Gazette. Every week the paper prints the news. Keep a free press, or switch to propaganda: cut the bad news and write your own headlines. Whoever saw the truth will trust you less.
- Listen to the gossip. At the tavern, settlers swap stories about what happened, and complaints about you spread the same way.
A deep colony sim underneath
- Four seasons with weather, temperature and snow. A year passes in 24 in-game days.
- Fields to sow, water and harvest. Chickens, cows and sheep that breed in their pens. Deer that come back slowly if you overhunt.
- Settlers with ten skills, passions, traits, needs and a mood that follows everything that happens to them.
- Kitchens, workshops, tailors and woodsheds that run on your orders. Tools wear out, homes burn firewood on cold days, and coats and shirts protect against cold and heat.
- Illness, care, death and mourning. Winter does not forgive.
- Traders with changing prices, trust, credit and debts.
A narrator with character
Pick a Kind, Harsh or Sarcastic narrator. They comment on your colony, give tips and tell the story of each day out loud. You can also turn them off.AI that runs on your PC
Every voice, every reply and every newspaper story is generated on your own computer by Tryll Engine. There are no cloud servers, no subscription and no per-message fees. The AI works out what you mean, and the game's rules decide what happens, so the simulation stays fair. Settlers stay grounded in your village and talk about what really happened there.Prefer a classic colony sim? Turn the AI features off in Options and the simulation plays exactly the same.
The AI features need a graphics card with 8 GB of video memory. See System Requirements.
