About Tiny Vessel

Tiny Vessel - about the game

Tiny Vessel is a free to play indie RPG and casual companion idle ARPG designed for PC. It runs as a narrow strip along the edge of the screen, allowing players to manage a small crew of survivors while handling other tasks on the computer. The core experience centers on three survivors navigating an alien walkway, engaging in fights, and collecting drops, with the player directing actions through consoles while much of the combat proceeds automatically.

Gameplay

The strip format keeps the action visible without demanding full attention. Each fight involves positioning where the front survivor absorbs damage, the two in the rear provide support from cover, and a melee fighter advances briefly to strike before retreating. Active abilities trigger on their own cooldown timers, buffs expire naturally from their sockets, and boss shoves register as actual movement rather than being ignored. Loot drops carry meaningful weight through tier rolls from Salvage to Fracture, grades from Common to Signal, and affixes that alter performance in tangible ways. Sockets accept chips, etchings, and Powers, while a comparison tooltip displays exact differences before any equip decision. The Fabricator handles fusion, retuning, pressing, and extraction of unused pieces, and gear supports trading through the Steam Market.

Progression ties into the Relay system, where scrap purchases nodes that improve crew stats, hold space, salvage yields, uplink pay, Fabricator capabilities, and depth access. Nearly two hundred nodes exist, arranged in sequences that shape each run. Level-ups draw adaptations from each class's dedicated pool, and formation choices determine roles such as tanking, backline casting, or forward melee. Survivors swap in and out from the stasis bay as new ones are recovered.

Game Modes

Players decide between holding a stage at the flag to farm resources steadily or allowing the crew to advance through the walkway. The held stage continues generating scrap and experience at base rates even after closing the game, up to a cap extended by Relay upgrades, delivering a report upon return rather than requiring constant oversight. Seven zones span from the crash site to the Hollow, with four depths layered beneath the surface: the Descent, the Deep, and the Source. Each deeper layer increases enemy strength, armor and healing demands, and loot tier, so surface equipment does not suffice for lower levels. The Beacon serves as the map for navigation across these areas.

Classes and Crew Building

Six classes form the available roster: Trooper, Scrapper, Relic Hunter, Machinist, Medic, and Voidcaller. Each class supplies six active abilities, each with three mastery variants. Every level-up selects an adaptation from that class's pool, encouraging repeated runs with varied builds. Formation remains flexible, letting any survivor fill the tank, caster, or melee slot, with quick swaps from the stasis bay to adapt to new finds or challenges.

Is It Worth Playing?

Tiny Vessel suits players who want an idle ARPG that runs alongside other activities without constant input. The real-time combat mechanics, where positioning and cooldowns matter, add substance beyond pure automation. Loot systems with clear comparisons and meaningful affixes reward attention to gear choices, while the Relay node tree provides long-term progression goals. The free to play model and away pay feature make it accessible for short sessions or background play. Those who enjoy companion-style games with class variety, formation decisions, and layered depth progression will find consistent systems to explore across multiple runs. The single window design with scalable views and minimal alerts keeps the experience unobtrusive on PC.
