The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol is a co-op first-person horror game for 1–4 players, set in endless liminal “backrooms” where nothing makes sense and reality feels wrong.
You are not a soldier or a hero. You are just… stuck. Your only real weapons are your flashlight, almond water – and your friends.
THE PLAYER
You wake up in a cold, humming corridor with no idea how you got there. The rooms repeat, the lights flicker, and every sound echoes forever.
- You cannot hurt the monsters. There are no guns, no melee weapons, no way to fight back.
- You survive by listening carefully, moving slowly, closing doors and breaking line of sight.
- Almond water works as both healing and sanity. Run out, and the backrooms slowly drive you insane.
- Proximity voice chat–friendly gameplay: whisper, warn and coordinate with your team… or panic together when you hear something in the dark.
ENTITIES
You are not alone down here. Several different entities roam the halls, each with their own behaviour and sound design.
- Some hunt by sound and will react to your footsteps, doors and voice chat.
- Some prefer to stalk from a distance, slowly wearing down your sanity.
- Others simply appear where you don’t expect them, turning safe spaces into death traps.
None of them can be killed. Your only options are to hide, outsmart them and hope they choose someone else.
LEVELS
The backrooms are made up of interconnected levels: offices, storage areas, maintenance tunnels and completely abstract spaces that shouldn’t exist.
- Each level has its own layout style, lighting and soundscape.
- Important items (keys, codes, mechanical parts, almond water) can spawn in different preset locations each run.
- Small puzzles and environmental clues help you unlock new areas and shortcuts.
- Dead ends, fake exits and looping corridors play with your sense of direction and reality.
CO-OP HORROR
The game is designed primarily for co-op, but can be played solo if you want a harder, lonelier experience.
- 1–4 player online co-op (PvE only).
- Share information: read notes aloud, call out codes, mark doors and warn others when you see movement.
- Split up to search faster – or stay together and accept that progress will be slower but safer.
- When someone dies, the rest of the team has to decide if they push forward or try to bring them back.
GAMEPLAY LOOP
A typical run looks something like this:
- Wake up in the backrooms with nothing but a flashlight.
- Search for keys, codes, fuses, mechanical parts and almond water.
- Solve small environmental puzzles to open locked doors and activate machinery.
- Avoid or escape entities that patrol and react to your noise.
- Push deeper into new levels, where sanity drains faster and hiding spots become rarer.
- Eventually escape… or die and try again with a slightly different layout and item placement.
FEATURES
- Co-op first-person horror for 1–4 players.
- Dark, claustrophobic backrooms with an emphasis on atmosphere and sound.
- Enemies that cannot be killed – only avoided, tricked and outrun.
- Sanity and health tied to almond water; running out changes how the world feels and looks.
- Semi-randomized item and code locations for replayability.
- Sudden noises, blood, dead bodies and disturbing imagery.
If you enjoy tense co-op horror where you feel mostly defenceless, every sound matters and your sanity is always at risk, The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol is made for you.
