About Terminal 9

Terminal 9 - about the game

Terminal 9 is an action indie casual game set aboard a rundown flying warehouse operated by MegaCorp, the galaxy's largest shipping company. Players take on the role of a cloned worker whose shift involves retrieving packages from hazardous sites and preparing them for launch while managing threats that appear the longer the run lasts. The experience blends resource gathering, careful packing, and tense navigation in procedurally generated locations that change with every attempt.

Gameplay

The core loop begins when Terminal 9 docks with a fresh site such as an abandoned station, mine, or derelict vessel. An order printer delivers the day's tasks, always featuring one mandatory main order alongside optional side requests that offer extra rewards. Players head into the location to locate and transport the required items back to the ship without causing damage that customers will notice upon arrival.

Once items reach the vessel, the focus shifts to the fulfillment line. Workers select the correct box size, pack the contents securely, apply the proper label, and fire the package through the launch cannon. The cannon produces significant noise that draws attention from nearby threats. Monsters on each map follow distinct behaviors, including tracking sound, sensing footsteps, or moving only when unobserved, which forces players to adapt movement and timing throughout the shift.

There is no fixed timer. Staying longer increases the number of monsters present, but players can activate the departure lever whenever they choose. Anything left behind stays lost, and crew members still outside the ship are abandoned. Death occurs instantly, yet MegaCorp maintains clone tanks that provide immediate replacements, turning each failure into a fresh start with continuity in progress.

Customer feedback arrives during the return flight in the form of star ratings accompanied by photos of the delivered packages. These reviews determine pay and influence the ship's overall rating. Higher ratings unlock access to VIP customers, additional order varieties, and upgrades for the vessel itself. Low ratings risk the ship meeting the same fate as the eight previous Terminals that are no longer in service.

Game Modes

Terminal 9 supports online co-op for up to eight players, with proximity voice chat and walkie-talkies available to coordinate actions across the map. Team members can divide tasks such as exploration, item retrieval, and packing while communicating to avoid drawing monster attention. The shared environment encourages careful positioning and quick responses when threats appear.

Each run generates a new map drawn from varied settings including stations, planets, moons, derelicts, and caves. Daily rules modify the shift conditions, introducing variations such as Black Friday, Quiet Hours, and Audit Day that alter objectives, monster behavior, or operational constraints. These changes keep individual sessions distinct without requiring separate mode selections.

Single-player runs follow the same structure, allowing solo players to manage all aspects of retrieval and packing while contending with the same monster types and departure decisions. The absence of a clock means pacing remains under player control in both solo and group play.

Exploration and Ship Features

Hidden on every map is Patchwork's black market, where players can purchase gear, sell collected loot, or attempt theft. The vendor remembers past interactions, which can influence future dealings. Back aboard the ship, a dedicated break room, an ID photo booth, and a wall displaying customer mail provide spaces for downtime between runs.

The vessel itself serves as a persistent hub that improves through rating-based upgrades. These enhancements expand available options for future shifts while the core loop of fetching, packing, and launching remains consistent. Monster encounters and procedural layouts ensure that no two visits to a site feel identical.

Is It Worth Playing?

Terminal 9 suits players who enjoy co-op extraction experiences combined with light horror elements and methodical packing mechanics. The clone system reduces frustration from deaths, while the review and upgrade progression gives long-term goals beyond individual runs. Daily rule variations and monster behavior differences add replay value for those who appreciate adapting to changing conditions in procedurally built environments.

The game appeals to groups seeking coordinated play with voice communication or solo players comfortable managing multiple responsibilities. Its casual accessibility pairs with action-oriented tension during retrieval phases, making it a fit for sessions that balance careful planning with sudden threats. Availability on PC supports straightforward access for interested players.
