About Splatt

Splatt - about the game

Splatt is a competitive online obstacle racer for two to four players on PC in Early Access. Players carry a fragile egg through twisting courses where every jump, landing, and collision threatens to end the run empty handed. The core loop centers on balancing speed against the need to protect cargo across three rounds, with the cleanest overall performance claiming the session win.

Gameplay

The experience revolves around a physics driven character that runs, sprints, and jumps through open courses. Momentum carries real weight, and a poor landing can shake the egg free even before any obstacle appears. Big air often proves costly because extended flight time increases the chance of a destabilizing impact on touchdown. Players decide in the moment whether to push for position or ease off to safeguard their cargo, since arriving without the egg still awards points but at half value.

Each round seeds wildcard boxes along the route with fresh contents every time. Roughly a third contain traps that affect only the first player to open them. A stun locks controls for several seconds, a force drop yanks the egg away instantly, a slowdown cuts speed dramatically, and one trap drains permanent currency directly. Perks in other boxes grant lasting speed boosts, a one time teleport that drops the player safely onto ground below, a wind wave that shoves nearby rivals, or a direct payout of that same currency.

Broken eggs leave a permanent colored splat at the exact failure point, serving as visible evidence for the rest of the night. The track itself evolves as these marks accumulate, turning familiar routes into reminders of past mistakes.

Game Modes

Splatt offers no single player mode and focuses entirely on online sessions for two to four participants. A session consists of three rounds across courses chosen by the group at a central hub table. Points come from finishing position plus a full bonus for an intact egg or half points for an empty finish. Scores accumulate across the rounds, rewarding consistent performance over any single strong showing.

Rounds begin once all players stand on the staging platform, with a five minute hard limit as backup. Players who fall off the world return automatically to the hub while the run continues without them. Between rounds the group votes on the next course, and sessions typically last ten to twenty minutes. Drop in support lets new players join once a round ends, and private lobbies allow password protection for friends only.

Movement and Wildcards

Control feels direct and responsive rather than scripted. Sprinting builds speed that carries through jumps, yet every landing demands precise timing to keep the egg stable. Recovering from a bad angle or mid air adjustment becomes a learned skill that separates consistent racers from streaky ones. Shortcuts that look tempting often punish overcommitment because the landing shake proves too much for the cargo.

Wildcard boxes refresh their contents each round, so memorized paths can suddenly introduce new hazards. Traps and perks appear in roughly equal measure, and each box activates only once per player per round. Observing a rival trigger a box gives advance warning of what lies ahead on the same route.

Customization and Progression

Every point earned converts into Drips, a permanent account currency. This balance funds purchases in the hub wardrobe across five slots for hat, shirt, pants, shoes, and accessory. A palette of twelve colors lets players recolor any equipped piece, and the full outfit saves to the cloud for use in every lobby. One trap type drains Drips directly, linking careful racing to long term cosmetic progress.

The hub also houses the course voting table and staging gate. No servers require rental, and one player simply hosts while others join through a visible server browser that shows session status at a glance.

Is It Worth Playing?

Splatt suits players who enjoy short, skill focused multiplayer races where risk management matters more than raw speed. The three round structure keeps sessions quick while still allowing comebacks through steady play. Those who prefer solo campaigns or large scale battles will find the two to four player limit and lack of single player options limiting. The permanent splats and Drips system add lasting consequences that reward thoughtful runs over reckless ones. Early Access status means the current two courses and core systems form the foundation, with the emphasis on clean movement and cargo decisions providing a distinct hook for fans of competitive obstacle racing.
