About SAFA

SAFA - about the game

Explore a hauntingly detailed town at the outskirts of the city.

Made in Unreal Engine 5 and lovingly crafted by hand, SAFA offers players a view into a unique setting they have never experienced before; Pakistan. This game is my love letter to survival horror as a genre. SAFA is a narrative-focused game, but your choices change how the game ends as well as what you experience. It uses a permanent death mechanic so if you die once, you will have to restart the whole game but your knowledge from your last playthrough determines which paths you take and what you do each playthrough.

Mina is a hopeful single-mother who just wants to find her son and go home, but the town may have other plans for her. Equipped with an old gun and a flashlight, you set out to find your son and get help. What horrors you encounter tonight are at your own discretion and death seems to be inevitable.

SAFA offers players not only a unique survival horror experience where traditional survival third-person horror gameplay such as puzzle solving, inventory management, and resource management combine with in-depth character interactions.

Meet the locals!

Learn about the town's history and culture from a number of interesting characters. Either convince them to leave their homes and help you or do small favors for them and earn a reward. No good deed goes unpunished, however. Each character you meet can branch out into further side stories. Everyone has their own struggles so it is your choice if you want to help them get to safety tonight.

Be careful where you go.

You never know how far from your main path you may end up or who you may encounter. Mina knows how to use a gun, but does she have enough ammo to survive the night?

Combat creatures, monsters, and people in modern third-person survival horror fashion. However, each enemy is unique in how they have to be dealt with and necessitate that you learn their patterns, understand their behaviors, and think quick on your feet to stay alive all while managing a spatially limited inventory.

It has an open design to the game world so you are free to change and adjust how you interact with the story. You can finish the entire game without ever getting into a single fight or you can choose to fight everyone.
