Respawn is the upcoming roguelike game for the fans of hard sci-fi.
Your name is Kane Hartman and one day you wake up in a mysterious twisted maze full of hostile robots.
Turns out your comfortable life was just an illusion. The civilization as such has ceased to exist, finally wiped out by the climate crisis. What remains of the human species is a couple thousand people all conjoined in a humongous computing cluster utilizing the processing power of the human brain.
The new ruler of the Earth is Quincy: the artificial intelligence running on the cluster. He's decided to find the source of the human will to survive and picked you as his test subject.
Gameplay
Respawn is an action packed, adrenaline pumping challenge for demanding players. Every subsequent chamber will throw different selection of enemies at you, demanding you to adapt and overcome. You will die a lot, but with every repawn, you'll become stronger and advance further.
Setting
The game will take you through a derelic, underground megafactory, where the greatest technology mogul used to produce household robots. It was then turned by the AI into a testing ground, filled with robotic opponents ready to shred you to pieces. Move deeper and deeper until you reach the heart of this futuristic dungeon.
Upgrade system
By means of genetic augmentation you can acquire new skills that give you an edge against the robotic opponents. They may include pretty straightforward things like greater speed or stronger hits, but also give you that pretty sweet exploding kick to level out the field.
Swing the club
You're not going in empty handed: a high amperage baton, a sizzling whip and a set of blades will let you carve and chop your way through the maze, leaving heaps of wrecked robots behind.
The hostiles
Quincy, the artificial intelligence running this show, won't be engaging you personally. He's got a legion of minions at his disposal: charging drones, sweeping lasers and chasing robodogs are just the beginning. Observe their tactics, counter with well timed jabs and above all - keep moving!
