About Pay your Deeds

Pay your Deeds - about the game

Pay Your Deeds is a roguelike deck-builder set on a 5x4 slot reel where players manage mounting debt through strategic symbol combinations and resource generation. The game places you in Sector XP, a decaying early-2000s operating system interface that houses every menu, contract, and run record. Debt payments arrive every few days in the form of Deeds, and failure to meet the required Scrap Credits ends the current attempt. Spins collect resources while allowing additions, removals, and modifications to the symbol pool to sustain income against rising demands.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on spinning the reel to gather Scrap Credits and discover new Symbols that expand or refine the build. Each run begins with a basic reel configuration, and progress comes from integrating Symbols that generate resources, multiply values, consume or destroy others, transform elements, or activate effects across the grid. Careful selection matters because adding powerful options can disrupt synergies already in place. Players remove ineffective Symbols and reroll or modify the pool mid-run to adapt to escalating payment requirements.

Over 100 Symbols exist with varied effects, rarities, and interactions that support different approaches. These range from resource producers to multipliers and conditional triggers. Builds evolve organically based on what appears during spins rather than fixed classes. Archetypes such as Medical, Rot, Tools, Tech, Hazards, Animals, Trade, Power, Arsenal, or Salvage serve as flexible starting points that mix depending on available options. The strongest individual Symbol often yields to whatever fits the current reel state best.

Game Modes

The primary experience involves completing successive Deeds with increasing payment thresholds across 24 distinct requirements. Each Deed demands higher Scrap Credit totals, pushing players to refine their reel further before the deadline. Side Contracts add optional objectives that influence progression and rewards during these runs.

Endless Mode extends play for builds that surpass the standard Deed sequence. It allows continued spinning and refinement without the pressure of timed payments, focusing instead on long-term optimization and record tracking. Multiple Clearance Levels provide layered progression systems that carry forward across attempts through persistent local statistics, records, and achievements.

Progression and Systems

Five creditor factions each bring distinct identities and advancement paths that shape available contracts and upgrades. The Power Store offers 35 permanent improvements that enhance future runs, while 20 Side Contracts provide additional layers of decision-making and resource opportunities. Reroll, remove, and modification tools let players curate their Symbol pool dynamically rather than accepting every find.

All systems operate within the unified Sector XP interface. Deeds, mail, contracts, upgrades, faction communications, and run histories coexist as files and programs on the simulated machine. This setup keeps navigation and record-keeping integrated without separate menus interrupting the experience. The game runs fully offline with no external dependencies.

Is It Worth Playing?

Pay Your Deeds suits players who enjoy roguelike deck-building with heavy emphasis on spatial symbol placement and incremental optimization under time pressure. The reel-based mechanics reward experimentation with combinations while punishing overextension, creating runs that feel distinct based on early finds and mid-run adjustments. Those drawn to strategy titles that blend casual accessibility with deep interaction potential will find the 5x4 grid and Symbol effects engaging for repeated attempts.

Progression through factions, upgrades, and Clearance Levels adds long-term structure without requiring constant online connectivity. The offline focus and local tracking systems make it suitable for focused solo sessions. If the appeal lies in building resilient engines from modular parts rather than linear stories or competitive multiplayer, the game delivers consistent depth through its verified mechanics and modes.
