About Onidot: Game of Tag

Onidot: Game of Tag - about the game

Onidot: Game of Tag is an action indie casual early access game on PC built around asymmetric multiplayer tag matches. Up to 20 players divide into runners and chasers, with simple rules that emphasize evasion, pursuit, and quick decision making during short rounds.

Gameplay

Matches begin with chasers locked in a cage for the first 15 seconds while runners spread out across the map. Once released, chasers must tag every runner before the timer expires. Runners focus on staying free to earn bounty, while chasers gain bounty for each successful tag. Both sides share access to a dash ability and bonus items that provide temporary advantages such as extra speed or stamina.

Missions appear during matches as side objectives for either team. Completing a mission grants tools to disrupt the opposing side or unlocks additional items like endless stamina or speed boosts. These tasks add layers of strategy without complicating the core loop of running or chasing.

Game Modes

Players can join custom lobbies with friends to adjust maps, match settings, and team roles. Random Match pairs participants with strangers for quick sessions. Offline solo play pits users against computer-controlled opponents when internet access is unavailable.

Stage Challenge offers a structured single-player experience with 30 preset stages. Each stage sets specific goals and conditions that must be met to progress, providing focused practice and progression outside of live matches.

Map Creation and Progression

The game ships with 14 official maps that support varied layouts for different play styles. An in-game map editor lets users design and share their own arenas, expanding the available environments over time. Bounty earned from matches and stage challenges converts directly into coins for purchasing accessories and customizing character appearance, including facial paint options.

Is It Worth Playing?

Onidot: Game of Tag suits players who enjoy straightforward competitive tag mechanics in a casual multiplayer setting. The mix of live matches with up to 20 participants, offline NPC battles, and the 30-stage challenge provides options for both social and solo sessions. Early access status means the experience continues to evolve with potential additions to maps and systems. Those drawn to indie action games with simple rules and replayable rounds will find consistent value in the bounty-driven progression and customization loop. The title works well for short play sessions or longer custom games with groups.
