About Majogami

Majogami - about the game

Majogami is a 2D action-adventure platformer developed by Inti Creates for PC. Players control Shiroha, a young woman who wields a katana called Kamikiri in a paper craft world filled with dark visuals and twisted enemies. The core experience centers on precise platforming and fast combat as Shiroha regains her memories while traveling with her father Shiori, who has been transformed into paper.

Gameplay

Shiroha moves and attacks with the Setsuna ability, which lets her dash forward instantly to slice enemies or reach new areas. Timing this move correctly also helps dodge incoming attacks. The combat stays close-range focused, with no standard ranged options outside specific transformations. Shiroha collects Recarte cards that restore fragments of her past and encounters the Majogami, powerful Craft Witches who serve as major obstacles.

She gains access to seven distinct fighting forms by partnering with Astrals and using Shiori's defense sigils. These forms alter her attack patterns and movement options during battles. Twenty magical charms can be found, purchased, and equipped to customize stats and abilities further. Special scrolls unlock additional techniques and battle options as progress continues.

The world features more than 35 action stages built around platforming sequences, enemy encounters, and environmental hazards. Thirteen unique bosses appear throughout the journey, each with distinct attack patterns and full-screen animations that highlight their designs and obsessions.

Game Modes

The main experience is the full story mode, which follows Shiroha's path through the paper craft realm and emphasizes narrative progression alongside combat and exploration. Players advance through linear stages while collecting items and mastering Setsuna timing.

Challenge missions provide additional content with online leaderboards. More than 30 of these missions are available at launch, and they focus on specific performance goals such as time trials or score challenges. The game remains strictly single-player outside these shared leaderboard rankings.

Story and Presentation

Shiroha starts with no memory and gradually uncovers details about her life and her bond with Shiori through Recarte cards obtained by defeating Majogami. The narrative explores themes of family and determination in a bizarre setting created with paper craft aesthetics and dark tones. Japanese voice acting covers the full cast, including Shiroha voiced by Miyu Tomita and Shiori by Kenji Hamada, with additional performances from Masako Nozawa and others.

Art direction comes from Yuji Natsume, known for work on Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and Blaster Master Zero. The visual style blends colorful paper elements with ominous designs for characters and environments. Full Japanese voice acting totals over eight hours of dialogue across the story mode.

Is It Worth Playing?

Majogami suits players who enjoy 2D action platformers with tight combat timing and a focus on single-player progression. The combination of stage variety, boss encounters, and customization through charms and forms gives the game depth without relying on multiplayer elements. Steam user reviews stand at Very Positive based on 143 ratings, reflecting strong approval for the controls, visuals, and story delivery.

The title launched on PC in November 2025 and continues to receive support through its challenge mission leaderboards. Those seeking a self-contained adventure with precise mechanics and a distinctive art style will find the experience rewarding, especially if they appreciate character action games centered on melee combat and memory-driven narratives.
